  1. Shawn Armstrong, Soler, Garcia = $25 million AAV Other ways they could’ve went about it that would be better: Kenley Jansen, Tommy Pham = 23.5 million Kendall Graveman, Eduardo Escobar, Tommy Pham = 25.5 million This doesn’t even include options of just signing 1 quality player who you can actually count on with the 25ish million rather than trying to find 3 subpar players CF’er most certainly isn’t her/our only issue
  2. I’d rather have an elite closer for 16 mill than spend 24 million (on longer term deals) on Soler/Garcia. Our recipe to winning games goes through our pitching first a foremost. Trying to build a team on pitching with a closer that throws 91 is building a roster without a vision.
  3. This is exactly it. You can sit here and tell me she’s not incompetent and has made some decent moves. Ok, I agree. But has she done anything to prove she’s capable of building a WS contender? In my opinion, that’s an unequivocal no. And that’s a fireable offense. If you’re not a top 10 GM, you’re accepting mediocrity. Time to wash our hands and try again. They should be able to attract someone pretty dang good given the talent in the org
  4. Every other position on the field is “specialized” on a platoon basis to give us the best chance to win. Except closer apparently
  5. Yeah, that’s apart of “stuff”. If you’re “stuff” is a slider with no command, you have bad stuff
  6. Jansen always should’ve been a priority for this team. Yes, Bender sucks right now. Yes, he hung the pitch. But that’s partially on Stallings as well. Next AB he attacks peralta with the changeup and dominates. You can’t risk the hanging slider in to the lefty. You just can’t
  7. Every since the spider tack ban, Benders slider has been ass. That’s where he’s gotten hurt big time. You have a small margin of error throwing that to a lefty. It’s clear he doesn’t have a feeling for that pitch right now. You’re asking for trouble calling that to a guy like Pavin
  8. That’s on stallings man. You can’t keep calling sliders there when he’s obviously spinning them. He’s missed that pitch 3 times this inning. You can’t afford to call that pitch there. obviously Bender has to be better, a hell of a lot better. But you can’t cal that pitch as a catcher
  9. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say we could get the same level of production from Burdick as we are from Avi
  10. Wendle tweaked something his last game running to first. I get the sense they’re trying to avoid an IL stint by giving him days off
  11. BDLC has earned more ABs. At the very least until one of Garcia/Soler truly heat up
  12. Why does it feel like we’ve played the same 3 games on repeat
  13. This is not the time, Sulser
  14. Great Value 3 Outcome roster
  15. Max on Friday on normal rest and giving everyone else an extra day makes the most sense
  16. Yeah but he’s on track to be ready to be SP 6. You wouldn’t need SP 6 unless someone went down this time through the rotation. He threw 65 pitches, he would have a minimum of 1 more start before he would ever be needed. And that’s worst case scenario. It certainly is a more positive situation than having him on IL when you make the move to Meyer and effectively turn Elieser into a full time reliever
  17. Only issue is you would need to effectively send 2 guys down with Floro likely joining the team soon. Poteet + Bleier?
  18. Yep, and he effectively replaces Braxton who just went on IL and is also in that SP 7 conversation SP 1-4: Sandy, Pablo, Rogers, Luzardo SP 5: Meyer SP 6: Cabrera SP 7+: Garrett (IL), Castano, Poteet, Holloway (smh), Hoeing
  19. Sir, I’m the one that started the Fire Kim Ng thread lol
  20. I do think there’s something to be said for almost needing 2 SP ready when the move is made. Moving Elieser to the pen not only calls for the need for a direct replacement, but you almost need SP #6 to be ready as well ideally. Elieser would lose some of that length/longevity in a BP role, and you would ideally have a new SP 5/6 when the move is made. Edward Cabrera made a rehab start yesterday. There’s your new SP 5/6. It’s time
  21. Well, because Max just continues to shove and build even more of a case.
  22. Only good news - this should be the nail in the coffin for elieser as the starter. Cruises through order 1st time, hit around 2nd time. Idk how much more obvious this can be
  23. 2nd time through the order SMH. This is why you can’t walk guys up 3-0
  24. Here’s the problem with your argument. Garcia and Soler are bad acquisitions because of opportunity cost alone. For the same AAV as Soler/Garcia they could’ve acquired Mark Canha who would give this team similar if not better production, and a different dimension. We are devoid of guys with real approaches and higher OBP %. We don’t have enough (or hardly any) guys who are capable of playing baseball outside of the true 3 outcomes. We do not have the caliber of bats to play true 3 outcome baseball. Canha is just one direct comparison as he was a FA OFer. All things being equal, he would’ve been a better acquisition than Avi off contract length alone. We’re trying to play streaky, slug or K offense with a bunch of Great Value power hitters
