  1. I love infante already. Me too. He showed off some of his defensive skills. Hanley also had a great game defensively. That play up the middle with the spin and throw to keep the no hitter alive was amazing.
  2. When did we get a FSN rep on the boards? Welcome aboard! I share your excitement. At first I was like, 'Wow this guy sure did his research for this post, who is this?', and then I saw his name and his post count. :lol Pretty cool.
  3. How bad is traffic from the Miami to the stadium on a Friday afternoon? I'm going to the game (I'm from out of town) and will be leaving from around the airport area. When should I leave if I want to get there at around 6ish? Thanks. Leave around 5 if you want to be safe. Also, take take the HOV lane on 95, should be cheap around that time and will definitely save you some time. Is the HOV lane in Dade the one where you get charged for it's use? Here it's just you have to have 2 or more people in the vehicle. But I thought that was a set price, didn't change according to the time. And

  5. Looking at Murphy's AAA numbers don't you guys think that a .265/.320/.480 line is possible? That sounds pretty good to me. The guy has a ton of minor league experience, I think he might do better than expected.
  6. Please please please try to get Chavez. The guy has done a great job in ST and looks healthy for the first time in along time. He could be the next Cantu (but with much better defense).
  7. Bingo. Everyone, just pretend it's Amezaga. Hell, Amezaga's numbers as a Marlin: .259/.320.346. That's definitely not outside the realm for Bonifacio. Bonifacio is a victim of his own (albeit short) success. The guy went from what we thought would be a +WAR starter to the worst player on the starting lineup in less than 2 months. I think most of us (myself included) judge him way too harshly because of that. Also the fact that be can't bunt really bothers the crap out of me.
  8. Yeah they put reruns of all the 30 in 30 episodes all the time.
  9. I don't know if any of you watched the second half of last season, but it appeared to me he was using his skills a lot more by making more contact and hitting the ball on the ground. I have the stats to back it up: 2010 2nd HALF OF THE SEASON 54 G 180 PA 159 AB 29 R 42 H 6 2B 3 3B 0 HR 9 RBI 9 SB 0 CS 17 BB 37 K .264 AVG .330 OPB .336 AVG on balls in play Only 2 E all of last year He was starting to come around. This spring he is hitting .271 AVG, .300 OBP, 4 SB, 0 CS. 1 2B, 1 3B in 48 AB. Actually you're right. I think the most impressive stat (besides maybe 9 SB
  10. I think people are overlooking the fact that Edwin isn't thinking of playing Bonifacio out of necessity alone. He says he'd like to play him anyway, but realizes he can't because of limitations. Meaning, he thinks Bonifacio is an everyday player. That's ridiculous. Maybe Edwin is one of those people who thinks his defense and baserunning could one day overcome his limitations as a hitter. Of course, I disagree, but it wouldn't be a first. For what it's worth, he could learn to use his speed as a hitter and raise his batting average to a respectable level. That's about all I can
  11. Bonifacio he most love player on marlins :lol Something like that.
  12. If Bonifacio ends up any where in the day to day lineup because of this I'll blow a gasket. Get your room padded, because BONERFACE HERE HE COMES ! :lol Jesus take the wheel. :|
  13. Oh boy... so basically Cogs is going to play CF during the regular season with about 5 innings of CF experience in ST? Is that about right? :confused
  14. I still don't understand why we couldn't keep Lumanski or at least trade him. Or Lubanski either for that matter. Derp. :lol I asked Joe Capozzi what the deal was, via Twitter and he said that Lubanski's stats in ST were kind of weak. I don't know that that's enough to cut a player, so it sounds like an educated guess on his part.
  15. I still don't understand why we couldn't keep Lumanski or at least trade him.
  16. The Marlins offered Uggs a 4 year, $48 million deal... That is a damn good offer for a player who almost surely has jumped the shark. Whatever pluses we lost with him, we almost certainly make up for with better defense and a much better bullpen, which needed to be and was the focus the offseason.
  17. Lubanski is still only 25 and was a top prospect when he was drafted. He OPSed .804 and .899 the last two years, can play all three OF spots well, and as far as I can see, he still has options. Releasing that kind of lefty bat is dumb. Maybe they meant to release Petersen (.686 and .781 OPS the last two years) and just accidentally cut the wrong guy. :lol This is a real head-scratcher. Maybe the guy is damaged goods.
  18. Why did we release Lubanski? The guy hit .293 in AAA last year and slugged .538 in 355 ABs. Is it an arbitration issue?
  19. I've been all on board to ship Nunez for some needs. But I always thought if Nunez could just develop a suitable slider or breaking ball he'd become an elite reliever. A lot of relievers thrive with two pitches but usually those two pitches give the batter a different look movement wise. With the left to right tailing movement he has, some movement the other direction with a great off speed would be lethal. I wonder if St. Claire worked on that at all over the off season. I'm sure it was high priority. He has a great slider, but not much control with it. To be honest, I think he woul
  20. Two words: Yusmiero Petit. If he pitches for us, it's going to be a laser show as soon as the scouting report gets out. Bombs away. The "B" squad is Sanabia, West, Hill, Koehler, and probably Hand (come midseason anyways). And you really have to wonder if literally a bomb explodes and all arms get hurt or completely ineffective, if they wouldn't just stretch out Badenhop or Hensley instead of going the vagabond minor leaguer route. We have the most pitching depth we've had in years with probably a solid group of 20 pitchers that won't embarrass themselves like Andrew Miller, Hayden Penn,
  21. I'm surprised that such a heated discussion has come up as a result of such a light-hearted interview. I would say that while LF has more room for error (less ground to cover, don't have to worry too much about runners taking an extra base) it has the unique challenge that most balls that make it there have usually been pulled (a lot of the time smoked) by a RH hitter. This results in a tough time reading the ball off the bat because usually the ball will have some crazy spin and hook quite a bit in the air.
  22. I think Cogs is athletic enough to be ok in center (then again I remember a guy by the name of Reggie Abercrombie who was athletic and horrible). From my experience with my RTTS player in The Show (lol) the tough part of LF are the monster line drives that curve and come at you screaming. Those are tough to react to.
  23. What is this, a web site from an alternate reality?
  24. I wasn't being sarcastic by any means. I meant the insider joke in its most light-hearted of forms, and considering how tough it is to follow the Spring Training games, it was great to hear a summary of Coghlan's performance. Bob, I know you've taken some shots in the past, but you gotta let that stuff slide man. It's an internet forum about a game for crying out loud. EDIT: Plus there was a HAPPY FACE!
  25. Couple went his way. Made a nice jump in on one for the catch and had one fall in front of him, no way anyone could get to that one. And his uniform fit nicely. The "make-shift" IF looked pretty good with their gloves. Dobbs plays a very nice 1B, Boni got to a couple I didn't think would be grabbed, Donny made a couple nice plays, and Matt dove to knock down what could have been a double to keep it a single. Probably the highlites of a blah day. But it was fun to be there. Keep the insider info coming, Bob! Good to hear that Coghlan didn't look like Maybin or Reggie Abercrombi
