  1. I think it is going to be extremely difficult to compete in 2013. Because of this, I think trading him and getting pieces for the immediate future is best for the team. I think his value will increase in the offseason, especially if he has a nice September. The free agent class of SP's this offseason is pretty weak. If Loria is still our owner, then yes. If he sells to a dedicated person who is willing to compete, we can do what the Dodgers have done and go from crap to contenders. Keep JJ, sign Shields/Greinke along with some bats and make some trades. Our prospects suck and the farm
  2. Trade hi, while his stock is worth something. We don't need another Gaby Sanchez situation.
  3. If they can get Stanton healthy, find a bat in this year's weak FA class and grab up Greinke to make the pitching rotation JJ, Buehrle, Greinke and Nolasco while bolstering the BP, you could still have a decent team. The question is, will LoMo become the next Hermida and can we pick up some bats through trades and FA signings?
  4. Let's get a few things right, all the trades the Marlins made in 2005 were busts with two exceptions. Hanley wasn't producing, but you dont give up on a former batting champion who is 28 years old and get peanuts in return. The Marlins FO is horrible. At the moment we have almost nothing in our farm system and there is not a plethora of free-agents this upcoming year with the exception of Greinke. So where is the organization heading? Why couldn't Magic Johnson have bought the Marlins and we could have traded for Kemp and Greinke? The FO brought in both Guillen and Zambrano (to the cheer

  6. That thing is horrid. On top of the fact that it is ridiculously stupid, they have a marlin doing flips on top. Since when do marlins do flips? Ugly uniforms, ugly HR feature and stupid little mascot. It's very vexing, the whole situation. Why does Loria insist on these stupid gimmicks? I guarantee Pujols took one good look at that HR feature, coupled with the uniforms, and ran to the Angels. Furthermore, why doesn't anyone mention that the outfield wall is freaking neon-green?! As someone who has actually been to Angels games that place is pretty much full on gimmick ........ it's prox

  8. Can the Marlins do no wrong here? If this goes south, you're putting the season in jeopardy. I don't know why the Marlins didn't go after Oswalt instead or beg Vazquez to come back for one more year. It would have been more expensive, but you could have shipped Volstad somewhere else, or hold on to him (he is in fact, only 25).
  9. Very happy we were able to get Dobbs back. Is Oswalt next?
  10. Roy Oswalt is believed to have drawn some interest from the Red Sox, Nationals, Marlins, Blue Jays, Yankees, Rangers and Twins, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. However, Oswalt is waiting for trade candidates such as Gio Gonzalez to be dealt before agreeing to a contract. Interest in the 34-year-old right-hander spiked with yesterday’s news that he’s looking for a one-year deal. However, the Rangers won the bidding for Yu Darvish and already have a full rotation, so their interest in Oswalt may be fading. The Yankees seem to have prioritized others and the Twins may not be able to aff
  11. I don't know if I'd count on them making some big FA signing on another SP next season, even with all the available names. They've still got Stanton and Morrison contracts to deal with eventually. Personally I'm really hoping Brad Hand can make it into the rotation. I don't see what this has to do with anything. Stanton and Morrison still have 4 years before they can become FA. Therefore it would be a really good move to sign Oswalt to a one year deal and use him as a stop-gap. The good thing is it makes us flexible. What will it take to acquire Zambrano, I've heard nothing but good
  12. So yeah...Greg Dobbs.... This was exactly my thinking. Dobbs would not only add that dependable lefty bat off the bench, but he's a good clubhouse guy who has become familiar with the organization. I'd love to see him come back.
  13. I'm looking at him as a 4th-5th starter.. don't see how I'm overrating him. If anyone is being overrated, its Nolasco The fact is this guy won't get us into the playoffs. Obviously nobody here has watched him play. He's lazy, his delivery sucks, he has ZERO stamina, struggles to get through innings, and he's a cancer in the locker-room. If I were the cubs, I'd cut him. If you want to be a serious contender next year and want a veteran, go after Chris Carpenter, CJ Wilson, etc. sh*t, Sergio Mitre probably has more upside than this nut-job. How can anyone seriously want this guy?
  14. I would like to move Hanley to 3B and acquiring Reyes to play SS. Let's see how Coghlan does come spring training, he should be the future at 2B and Bonifacio at CF. Sign CJ Wilson and trade Chris Volstad and Gaby Sanchez as a package to make room for Pujols. Maybe trade Dominguez for a closer, but I would really like to keep him.
  15. Unfortunately it's not on FSN Florida's website. I hope there is somewhere I can find it.
  16. Where can I catch the postname ceremonies from last night? I was in class and unable to watch. I'm watching the Marlins game replay now, but they won't show the ceremony.
  17. Whatever logo we get, I hope it's a Green/Yellow/Blue mix, especially with a move away from teal. Something like that could set the palate for Miami, and work well here as well. If the Heat win a championship I can see them adding red in there somewhere to try to capture some of the marketing and hat sales. I would protest against the organization if this were to happen. This is baseball, not the circus. I'm also quite nervous about the change. I don't understand why we just can't keep the uniforms we have now, leave the logo as is. If feels gimmicky to me to change the uniforms of a
  18. We'll be on national TV during the playoffs. This.
  19. It is certainly possible. Should he hit the market, every single team in baseball will make a pitch and the Marlins will be among them. He lives in Miami, so I'm sure we would be one of his top 5, if not top choice. The questions is, does Loria have it in him to increase payroll to 100+ million? I'm not too sure. However, this would make the Marlins one of the most feared lineup in baseball. Hanley-Pujols-Stanton. HPS.
  20. I'd be down for it. Is he really getting no looks from anybody? Arizona has flirted with the idea of offering him a minor league contract, but nothing imminent.
  21. Hermida would be a great player to sign (to a minor league contract). He is a lefty bat, is very familiar with the organization and coaching staff, knows the ballpark, has a considerable amount of upside and is still quite young (about 6 months younger than Gaby Sanchez). He would be coming off the bench, so he wouldn't have to spend much time in the OF (unless there are injuries to which he can play both LF & RF in a park he knows well), so we wouldn't have to worry much about his errors. Who knows, maybe if he has to worry less about committing all those errors in the OF, his bat may fin
  22. We need a lefty and Renteria just isn't that good. Just like Cody, he got hot for the World Series but over the past three years, his numbers have been pretty bad.
  23. Some of you are on drugs. :lol Guys, Stanton is probably going to be great, but he's far from a lock to be "Top 10 player all-time" great, which is what Mr. Pujols is. Chill a lil' bit. Nonetheless, he has the potential (according to the scouts) to be, not just one of the top 5 players in baseball, but the top player in baseball. So the Pujols comparison has weight to it. Stanton just seems to be built for baseball. http://mlb.mlb.com/v...tent_id=7150955 You can read it there.
  24. If it doesnt happen, it doesnt bother me soooo much because it was really too good to be true. But if it was ever on the table, I wanna know who was offered/asked for and why it fell through just cuz it'd be nice to know. Much like that Manny for Stanton trade in 2008 that I no longer regret not doing. You at one point, had regrets for not trading Stanton for Ramirez? :lol At that point, in July of 2008, I didn't know who Stanton was and had no clue the potential he had. I hadn't heard anything about him at all and couldn't figure out why we wouldn't trade Hermida and some random minor
  25. Don't kid yourself. Anyone who thinks Greinke is headed to the Fish for two inconsistent, slightly above average pitchers needs to take a closer look. Yes, Nolasco can be dominant at times and Leo has shown glimpses of his potential, but why on earth would the Royals trade a perennial Cy Young contender for these guys. Hell ya I wish this would go down, but let's be honest. Keep going year to year with Ricky or include him in a trade to Arizona I think the idea here was that we would ship Nolasco and Nunez to Texas who would ship a couple of prospects over to KC to go along side a cou
