  1. Don't kid yourself. Anyone who thinks Greinke is headed to the Fish for two inconsistent, slightly above average pitchers needs to take a closer look. Yes, Nolasco can be dominant at times and Leo has shown glimpses of his potential, but why on earth would the Royals trade a perennial Cy Young contender for these guys. Hell ya I wish this would go down, but let's be honest. Keep going year to year with Ricky or include him in a trade to Arizona I think the idea here was that we would ship Nolasco and Nunez to Texas who would ship a couple of prospects over to KC to go along side a cou
  2. If it doesnt happen, it doesnt bother me soooo much because it was really too good to be true. But if it was ever on the table, I wanna know who was offered/asked for and why it fell through just cuz it'd be nice to know. Much like that Manny for Stanton trade in 2008 that I no longer regret not doing. You at one point, had regrets for not trading Stanton for Ramirez? :lol
  3. These rumors really don't make any sense. The rumor about us swapping relievers with Texas seems credible, though. The question is, what reliever. I would expect something like Leo Nunez for Michael Kirkman + a depth reliever with some upside. You forget that the rumors are that this is a 3 team deal. Nolasco could go to the White Sox and Nuñez + a prospect (Dominguez?) to KC. GREINKE to the Marlins is possible, but I also would think that either Dominguez or Morrison would have to be packaged, which is what probably gives Beinfest pause. I said I wish they'd take Gaby, but that
  4. 1B Sanchez, 2B Infante, SS Hanley.... give em Osvaldo or Dominguez + Nunez + Nolasco. f***it. ZACK GREINKE It's funny that some people think that this is what it would take to get Grienke. Grienke's trade value is similar to what Justin Upton's would've been. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball. The only one of those guys that KC would take is Dominguez...maybe Ozzie Martinez as the last piece to a trade. Nunez and Nolasco do nothing for them. I disagree. Nolasco and Nunez is good value in a trade for Grienke. I think we need to take away Martinez, though, and maybe add someone
  5. Doesn't really fit anywhere True, but he would allow us to trade Gaby (perhaps for a CF) and move LoMo to 1B. He also bring that veteran presence that Helms does not. I really with we would have kept Ross Gload. Blagh! How would getting a 32 year old going nowhere allow us to trade Gaby, still under 30 and still with the potential to get better? Unless we're trading Gaby for something younger, I wouldnt waste our goods. That's what I'm saying. As Spring Training nears it's end, and as the season takes it's casualties, teams might be looking for someone at 1B. That would allow us to

  7. Would anyone else be excited if the Marlins went after Nady? He has a history of signing 1 year deals at reasonable price. We could ad him to the OF (or even try him out at 3B) and shift Coghlan to the infield. Then if the price is right, we could trade Gaby Sanchez which would then give the team tremendous flexibility. LoMo could play 1B and Nady LF or vice-versa. Just wondering how others think about this since I haven't heard anyone talk about this at all.
  8. I really hope they put Coghlan at 2B, Dominguez at 3B, Hanley SS and LoMo at 1B. I still think that Gaby could be traded and then we can spend some money and get some OF help. I'd really love to land someone ala Xavier Nady for the OF.
  9. Not sure if like. Let's be real, he's not a solution. I'm surprised the Marlins went after someone with so little upside left over Pavano. It should be interesting to see how Sanabia battles for a rotation spot come spring training.
  10. I prefer Pavano but I'm not complaining. This.
  11. I prefer Coghlan at second base. If you are going to have Morrison at first base, there is a need for some major power bats in the outfield. Right now the Marlins have just Stanton. Gaby is still playing 1B as of now Yep. Everything coming from within the Marlins organization is that they believe they wouldn't get much for Gaby anyways and with the numbers he put up last year, it's difficult to pull the trigger on someone who comes so cheap. But personally, I think Morrison should be the future at 1B, and this year is his year to prove Gaby is expendable, or not. I do agree that
  12. I doubt anyone will give Uggla his 71 million. But reports were that Loria was "miffed" the Uggla turned it down. Negotiations could have continued until the December meetings. 71 million was never going to happen. I don't know what you're saying "nope" to. That the Marlins were unwilling to negotiate anymore because our owner is a prima donna? As one analyst put it on the radio the other day: "imagine what Admin Beinfest could achieve under an different owner." The Marlins didn't wait to trade him because they wanted to use his money early in free agency. If Uggla wasn't going to
  13. I don't understand this notion that the Marlins had to sacrifice power for pitching. Nonsense. Had the Marlins a bullpen last year, they would have made the playoffs. Uggla was a steal in Atlanta, as all the headlines read. Take it for what it is: with Uggla, the Marlins are a much better team, and if the roles were reversed, I'd pull the trigger in a heartbeat. The Marlins reluctance to actually sign free-agents is the problem. Nope. Offered 4yr/48mil contract and uggla stupidly stuck to 5yr/71mil. He's not worth that much. Not even close. If he signs with the braves for less than 5/71 or
  14. Cote's email is on there. I'll say that the Marlins were unwilling to negotiate. The owners always tell the players that it's a business right? I'm not sure it's fair to say that Maybin is a bust, I think he's going to be good in this league but he's the type of player who needs to be allowed to play every day and be surrounded with some veterans because he's too raw. The Marlins were unwilling to negotiate beyond their FAIR offer of $48 million and unwilling to negotiate into Uggla's asinine dream of $71 million... that doesn't mean the Marlins we're being cheap. They were being wise abo

Think about all the leads we blew last season because we didn't have

  17. Negatory on signing someone who's played in the MLB longer then I've lived... He's played in the MLB longer than half of the professional players have lived. Holy tits Is the Pope really fat now? I see what you did there.
  18. A 70 year old pitching regularly in the heat and humidity of SoFla is a disaster waiting to happen...... Old people love the South Florida heat and humidity! Not many of these old people throw a ball 100 times at 80mph and run around though...... No, they prefer beating me at golf. It gets just as hot in NYC in New England, if not hotter during the summer. Not to mention he plays in Florida half the time anyways when he faces us.

  20. I'd love to get him for a fair price (minor league contract). I mean, I think he'd be great as a long-reliever and would bring veteran leadership to clubhouse. As a long reliever he could see less innings, so his chances of remaining healthy are much better. Thoughts on bringing the Marlin killer to SoFlo? He already lives here for crying out loud!
  21. Sanabia should be given a serious shot in Spring training, otherwise he'd be great as a long-reliever out of the pen. I'd take Pavano too of course, coming off the season he had and his familiarity with the Marlins would be great. But Vazquez is a guy with a lot of upside if he can be brought in cheap. Luckily we have a very good pitching coach that should be able to work out his kinks. I'd be very happy with either, but I still think the Marlins would need an experienced OF like Carl Crawford, but I know that's never going to happen.
  22. Where the hell is José Ceda? He's a very young guy that I've been hoping will develop into a solid bullpen arm for the future. He should be at that age to break-out. Any news?
  23. He might be talking a lot, but I haven't seen any real meaningful moves. Not striking a deal with Uggla bodes badly on his negotiating skills. If he goes out and does a few things like sign Pavano and Jayson Werth along with bringing Leo Nuñez back next year while bringing in a long reliever and a solid bat off the bench, I'd raise my eyebrows. Until now, he has a ways to go to prove to the fans they should back him next season...
