To me it was a REAL bad look today with the Sherman/ Bendix wordfest of a bunch of nothing.
I did like the possibly unintentional shot that Sherman took at the fans when saying hey attendance was up (but it still sucked yall).
Such a fucking cheap ass owner that so few are willing to actually call out. The fact that payroll is LOWER than last year is beyond laughable.
Even worse was Arraez confirming that he has not even been approached about an extension (it will never happen).
This franchise is a fucking disaster.

Honestly, Frisaro, much like Das, just needs to shut up.
Shut up, Joe.
Shut up, Das.
Joe is 100% right though.
Truth sometimes hurts.
Someone needs to hear it. People are just too often afraid to actually hear the truth.

Finished paying off my mortgage y'all. Figured I'd share in the joy here since if any of the people I know in real life would immediately start asking to "borrow" money if they knew.
No, none of you can borrow or have any of my monies.
I'm assuming the deed to the property will arrive glowing like a goddamn Willy Wonka golden ticket?
You already have the deed to your property though technically.
Its that release of Mortgage that would be the glowing golden ticket.

Sandy's ready to unalive some people when he walks batters.
Surprised he didn't take Don out when Don went out to talk to him in that complete game against the Cardinals in 2022.
Shut up, Das.
That's because Don shut up and got off his fucking mound.

I expect 10M to 15M range as AAV of Anderson.
I dont.

For once I dont blame the Marlins for being 'cheap' with Tim Anderson.
He is in some type of fantasy land thinking he is getting a multiyear guaranteed contract coming off the 2023 season he had!
-
If they do sign TA, I hope Tim can have a bounce back season because DAMN was last year NOT GOOD.
Gotta hope that was just a weird season and not a sign that Tim is literally finished as a productive Major League player.
I know I wouldnt give him a giant amount of guaranteed dollars.

Will we sign more MLB FAs during ST than we did in the off-season?
The number to beat is 0
That list of Non Roster Invitees has gotta be getting pretty long though no?

Players union addressing all the complaints about the new Nike jersey templates. It's crazy that Nike thought what they came up with was an upgrade.
I mean when the only people not complaining are those with personal contracts for Nike....
Its pretty fucking difficult to get EVERYONE to agree with something and yet here we are.

Time to retire this thread!
Offseason is OVER boys.
Rounding fucking success for the 2024 Miami Marlins team.

Do singles hitters still drive Fords and home run hitters drive Cadillacs or does everyone drive Lambos now?
Shut up, Das.
Listen to Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine...
Chicks dig the long ball.
So do arbitration judges.

Would anyone take JD Martinez as full time DH Jorge Soler replacement?
I know he’s baseball player old now at 37.. but I mean he did hit .271 with 33 HRs last year at age 36? He might still have another decent year or so left in him.. or it could be a Gurriel repeat all over again.
except JD was far better than Gurriel in a far more pitcher friendly park and division so there is that...

Because I defended the concept of taking Jazz to a hearing for his obvious faults, just wanna make it clear that it's preposterous that the Marlins went to a hearing with Arraez and I'm stunned that they actually won.
Hitting has never paid the bucks.
Its about the power related numbers and it always has.

Hope it was worth the $1.4 mil to point out his flaws.
to Bruce Sherman absolutely.
Especially since there is no way they are signing him long term anyway, so who cares to them!

whoa, you mean he actually was worth $$ ?
Probably $1.

From a team perspective, staying there makes sense - their TV deals are for there and moving out of there will change (lower)those. Plus the coliseum isn't being knocked down tomorrow (despite no team playing there aside from the A's that I know of), so it'll be there.
That said, the city definitely has the leverage right now.
Thats kinda the point. John Fisher was a petty prick last year, so why should the city of Oakland just simply let him get a lease extension without some major concessions coming their way?

...so they'll move somewhere else. This dude isn't selling the team just as they're moving. He'll sell after they get it up and running with a new park. Nobody's going to want to buy the team mid-headache that is moving a franchise.
Then they should just go somewhere else. Not really sure why the City of Oakland should bend over backwards to appease John Fisher when he told them to fuck off last year, knowing he had no home for a number of years.

How on earth could the city force him to sell? He'd just take the team somewhere else for a few years....
No lease extension with John Fisher as owner.
-
I hope the city of Oakland plays hardball and either:
a. forces Fisher to sell to local groups
b. forces MLB to grant an expansion team to Oakland with the A's branding and history.
There is zero incentive for the city of Oakland to play nice at this point.

If the Marlins trade Edward Cabrera, might be a good time to talk about this:

Lol yeah and then in Year 2 when Soler is OPSing .700 like he did with in 2022, you would be criticizing the Marlins for signing him.
The fact that you still peddle this nonsense and expect people here to actually take you seriously is mind boggling to me.
The problem isnt so much in not signing Soler to a fairly reasonable contract its that they have literally done NOTHING to improve the 2024 team on the field from last year.
The team on Opening Day in 2024 will be a worse team than was playing in the playoffs in 2023.
That is a 100% fact.
They are closer to Washington than they are to Atlanta right now.
