JUPITER, Fla. -- Michael Tejera threw three scoreless innings, singled and scored a run Sunday as the Marlins splashed past the Cardinals 2-0 in rain-shortened game at Roger Dean Stadium.
Rain delayed the start an hour and 13 minutes, and a heavy downpour interrupted play after three innings.
The left-handed Tejera, who has moved into the rotation because A.J. Burnett is out with inflammation in his right elbow, was impressive in inclement conditions.
He gave up one hit, a single to left by Mike Matheny, walked one and hit Albert Pujols on the foot with a breaking ball. Tejera added two strikeouts, and repeatedly kept the ball down.
The Marlins pushed across two runs in the third inning off Woody Williams.

Mike Mordecai singled to open the third. Expecting a bunt, Tejera slapped a hit-and-run single to left. Juan Pierre advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt, which was destined for a hit until third baseman Scott Rolen made a brilliant barehanded play to nab the speedy Marlins' center fielder.
Andy Fox's single to left-center scored the game's only runs.
