Hotcorner's Preview: :compute
Oakland will leave the DH behind tonight as they begin their interleague tour of the NL East against the Marlins. Last season they dominated the NL, sweeping the Reds, Astros, Pirates, and Brewers on their way to a 16-2 interleague record. Since interleague play began in 1997 the A's have the best record at 66-37. The Marlins are close behind at 61-41.

Eric Byrnes has a 22 game hitting streak and is leading the A's with a .342 average. With their offense struggling this season, Oakland fired their old hitting coach Thad Bosley recently and replaced him with Dave Hudgens.

While the offense has sputtered however, Oakland's starting pitchers have kept the team within 5 games of first-place Seattle. Mark Mulder has been stellar this season, tied for the AL lead with 8 wins. He's also 5-0 on the road with a 1.69 ERA.

The Marlins have dropped 3 of 4 and will turn to Brad Penny. Penny is coming off a strong outing on Thursday, allowing no runs and six hits through six innings. Alex Gonzalez continues his offensive breakout season, leading the team with a .333 batting average, .608 slugging %, and trailing only Mike Lowell with 37 RBIs.

2002 Interleague Records: Athletics - 16-2; Marlins - 10-8.
Road/Home Records: A's - 13-15 on the road; Marlins - 15-13 at home.

if Brad pitches like we need him too, Marlins will win 3-2....

if not, we lose 6-4

I think IF we win tonight, we won't score THAT many runs and the game would be closer than that...

*they said Derek took extra batting practice today. :)

Encarnacion at the plate....it'll take a deep sac fly to score Mike...

Slow grounder to 3rd.....Lowell scores, and Juan beats out the throw!!!!!

Marlins blow a chance to get a few runs early.

Why's Hollandsworth have to sit again? This sucks.

We just got 1 run off 4 straight hits. That is the definition of unlucky.
