Angels (30-29) vs Marlins (29-34)

Gametime: 1:35, Forecast: Partly Cloudy, evening thunderstorms

On the Mound
--vs--
Ramon Ortiz vs Brad Penny
5-5, 5.27 ---|--- 4-3, 3.50

HC's preview :compute The Marlins will try to take the rubber game of their series against Anaheim today as Brad Penny will face Ramon Ortiz. Last night the Anaheim offense broke through in the 4th inning, scoring five runs off Tommy Phelps on route to a 9-2 win.

Florida's offense will try and get back on track. "We didn't have much going on offensively," manager Jack McKeon said. "We have our spurts now and then, but we have to do better than this." The Marlins have produced just 8 hits over the past two games. "We'll get a bunch of hits one night, 12, 14 hits, and then we decide to go on strike for a few days."

The Angels are 6-5 on their current road trip and hope to return to Anaheim with a winning record. He stopped a three-game losing streak with his last start to beat the Expos, but still gave up 4 runs in 6 innings. Penny has been consistent this season for the Marlins, going at least 6 innings in every start and allowing more than 3 runs only once. In his last 25 innings pitched he's given up just 4 runs. He's especially tough at home. Penny hasn't lost at home in 6 straight decisions at Pro Player and has a career record of 17-8.

Notes:
Alex Gonzalez went 2-for-3 Saturday, extending his hitting streak to a season-high 10 games.
Derek Lee's double snapped a run of 10 straight at-bats without a hit.
The crowd of 23,483 Saturday was the fourth home crowd to top 20,000 this season.
Sunday is Josh Beckett Jersey Day.
