Needing a diversion from the thoughtful (ad nauseum) discussions on July player trades, I wondered about Bench Coach Doug Davis. As I remember, he was assigned to McKeon (not chosen by him). I thought Managers chose their Bench Coach (and seldom one half the Manager's age). Doug Davis has minor league managing credentials. (Sporting News Minor League Manager for 1998). He was also active in Expos player development. Not trusting Marlins Management, I wonder if Davis is being groomed for Marlins Manager. And, if so, I wonder if McKeon knows it or will he get the shabby treatment Torborg did. Does anyone here no what Davis' status in the clubhouse is? Thanks.

I just played a personal game of word association.

Arnie... Arnsberg... Brad Arnsberg... Marlins former pitching coach...

That makes ME wonder if...

YOU ARE BRAD ARNSBERG!!!

My favorite choice for a long time has been Darren Daulton but I believe he does not want to manage anymore. I just hope our Manager next year won't be Bobby V :D

I think Hill would be the best choice...

Although Ozzie could bring some much need flare and enthusiasm to the club house... Tony Pena style!

If the old man wins BIG, I think they will keep him next year to see what happens. I don't want to see him go, he has helped us a lot!

If they replace him I would like to see Perry Hill. I don't like Ozzie Guillen because he doesn't have the discipline and structure for our young pitchers. Maybe further on he would be a manager, but Perry Hill has the structure to manage- he knows and teaches the players well. A manager has to manage, sure being friendly with the players is a plus, but he must do what is best for the team. Bobby V. may come down, but many players on the Marlins team don't like him at all.

WE STILL HAVE PLENTY OF SEASON LEFT, THE OLD MAN WILL PULL A RABBIT OUT OF HIS- PLAYOFFS ANYONE?

Enjoyed some of the responses, including Hill and Ozzie. Curious no one seems to know what Doug Davis is doing there now. Here's a prediction, just for fun. Mike Mordecai will Manage in the Minors next year and will be a Major League Manager within four years. And for the sad soul who is convinced I am Brad Arnesberg, former Marlins pitching coach, I guess it's nice you can amuse yourself ("play" with yourself, as you put it.) But, the 1941 in my sign-on-handle is my birth year.

Damn! I didn't know you were that old, Brad! What's your secret? :p

Well, according to Bienfest, you could never be Brad! You're acting professional!

But you seem to know a good amount on these situations... I wouldn't doubt if you really were Brad, but I believe you for the moment...
