I was checking out baseball america today and came across the strangest batting stats I think I've ever seen.

Rob Stratton - OF
Albuquerque Isotopes
AAA Pacific Coast League
-------------------------------
Games 22
AB's 79
Homeruns 10
Stikeouts 41
AVG .215
Slugging .608
--------------------------------

Explain it if you can...

Reminds me of Josh Booty's stats from 1997- he hit 20 home runs but had 150+ strikeouts.

Don't know if you wanted the breakdown or if you were just stunned at the strikeout numbers, but anyway....

Well if he has a .215 batting average in 80 at-bats,
That would amount to around 17 total hits.
He has 10 homers, leaving only 7 singles or doubles.

However slugging % if I'm not mistaken counts a double as 2 hits, triple as 3 hits, homer as 4 hits.

So that's 40 hits just from 10 homers. Add another 10 hits or so from his 7 singles/doubles, and suddenly you're looking at a slugging % over .600.

go Robert Stratton! Maybe he's been looking at Barry Bonds' stats thinking, hey half of Bonds' hits are home runs, I can do that...

Hey, who's laughing now, huh? Carolina Mudcats are eclipsing the Sea Dogs.
