You have the nerve to talk when you use the guy's mugshot as your avatar?

I'm a HUGE Dontrelle supporter. What's wrong with having that picture as my mug shot?

That was a real good interview. Good to hear Dontrelle support the club, Rome took a few shots at the franchise and Dontrelle came right back with good responses.

he said he wants to go back to the playoffs and he thinks he has a shot at that with the marlins.
he's rooting for the bears.
he knows the DUI was a mistake, but stands by his not guilty pleed.

that's about it. he seemed to be in a real good mood, though.

I find it hard to believe that having that pic supports him in any good way

He did it, so its fair game.

I liked how rome asked him if he was stading by the not guilty plea, and willis said yes. Then rome goes "so you didnt do it?" Dontrelle said no and that they (his lawyers) where going to find a technicality.

You can support him in spite of the event without white washing it.

He pissed on the side of the road. Its not the end of the world. If he had beaten his wife ala Randy McMichaels, then I would ask why he still had the pic up.

You're missing the point. It's not what he did or whether he should be forgiven, forgotten or swept under the rug or not.
To me, at least, there's no more powerful statement of support for Dontrelle (or any person) if you can support them while addressing their faults, whether you are simply addressing it or justifying it or learning from it. To do otherwise would suggest your support is fickle or can not deal with. As I said when news first came of the event, is that those who have mythicized Dontrelle into a squeaky clean milk drinker should use this event and whatever anger they may have toward Dontrelle for not living up to that image or the authorities or the circumstances that lead to the shattering of their myth to treat ballplayers as real people. Real people can be heroes. They can have a positive influence on our lives, as well as negative. Real people can be understood. Myths can only be believed.
Any one can be a fan of Dontrelle when he wins, but it takes a special fan who has risen above that superficialness to recognize what makes Dontrelle worthy of your respect is not his record, but what drives him and how he goes about doing the things he does regardless if wins or loses, promoting or criticizing the team through the press, is drunk or sober, or pissing in a urinal or on the road.
And, yes, you're right, certain points of triviality need not be considered, but each person is different and they may want to remember those trivialities and turn it into something altogether negative (as very few have) or altogether positive (as it seems Wild Card is attempting to do or has already done).

Very true, I agree with what you are saying. However lets change his DUI to manslaugher, or something along those lines. Then we would see who still supports him.

I was a big Ramon Castro fan back in his Marlin days, and I supported him all the way through his supposed rape in Pittsburgh.

I'm a huge fan of Dontrelle, and have been since the first day I saw him pitch against Colorado in May of 2003.
