If Johnson ends up being out for a while and we need a 5th starter what happens if Chris Volstad is completely dominant. I know it is very doubtful he gets a chance this early but what happens if he pitches lights out?!

Who is in the running for a rotation spot with JJ out? My guess would be between Petit, Garcia, and Mitre (please no to Mitre). Also, hopefully Paul Mildren gets a shot.

I would rather see Pinto, even though he is a lefty. Between Mitre &Pinto I would like to think, depending on the opposing team's lineup.

No doubt in my mind that it should be Mitre. We all know he is a better starter than reliever and he can do a decent job as a starter.

the papers seem to be suggesting it is between petit, chris george, and mitre (if ready). Freddi seems to like George.

I say either Gabby or George. George has opened some eyes very early in training camp. He is showing that potential that was predicted early in his career. BTW he still is inly 27, he came up with KC at the age of 21, that is why he seems to be almost 103 y/o. Gabby just has looked amazing as well as Volstad but there is no way Volstad is staying with the big club. At best he will go to Double A and be a phone call away. My favorate is Gabby, he is only 20 but he may be ready to make the jump if he shows any consistency in ST. It appears his stuff has been a wonder to see. He can easily win a job

there is absolutely no chance that it's Volstad or Gaby

Not bad at all, in the same boat with you. I have not heard of him either. And I make fun of my wife when she can't remember who our starting catcher is.

It will be Petit or Mitre, if there is anyone.

I have heard there is a possibility of going with just a 4 man rotation, since they have the 5th and the 12th off, and they wouldn't need to use a 5th man until the series with the Astros, and hopefully JJ will be ready to go by then.

No mention of Mitre anywhere but Chris George is making headlines on rotoworld and sportsline.

Sergio Mitre-R- Marlins Feb. 25 - 10:54 am et

Sergio Mitre, who would be the favorite to replace an ailing Josh Johnson in Florida's rotation, is being brought along slowly after last year's shoulder troubles.
The Marlins haven't given any indication that he's had a set back, so it's unclear what the hold up is here. Mitre was also basically a non-factor at the end of last year, though he spent the rest of the year on the active roster after coming off the DL on Aug. 9. If Mitre isn't going to be ready, either Yusmeiro Petit or Jose Garcia could be the Marlins' fifth starter. A move back to the rotation for Renyel Pinto doesn't appear to be an option.

Maybe if this were 2008...

But ya I have no problem with Mitre starting.

Hopefully this JJ will be able to come in sometime in April though.

I agree with Jimmy here. I followed Nolasco and Pinto over here to you guys(I am an Iowan).

My Cubbies couldnt get Mitre out of the organization fast enough. And with our recent history as far as pitching goes, that should tell you something. We were all overjoyed that we would no longer have to watch Mitre go out there and destroy any chance we had of winning.

Your front office should cut bait with Mitre as quick as they can. As long as he doesnt come back to Chicago, well unless the south side. Let him destroy their hopes and dreams for a while.

I see you defend him on here quite often, and honestly Mr. Ramp, I never understand why people defend players that have never done anything at this level but be awful. He was even awful for your Fish last year.
