Gonzalez and Hermida are still young but notice...

Beckett has been the only one out of high school to see success, does that say something?

I noticed that also.....the high school kids have too much pressure on them too soon.

Akin played in the Marlins system from 1997-2000 with Melbourne, Kane County, and Brevard County. His combined stats were 9-20, 4.42 ERA. He was released by the Marlins 3/19/01. He then signed with New Jersey (Ind.) of the Northern League, was traded to St. Paul of the Northern League where he went 0-0, 12.86 ERA in 2001. Last year, he played for Berkshire of the Northern League where he went 0-7, 5.21 ERA.

ed pickney should not be in that classification...he worked himself into a servicable journeyman, namely for hte Celtics of the late 80s early 90s....

Billy McMillion I know was with the Tigers a couple years back, and I know he bounced around with a couple more teams....

Not sure where he is now, I am about 99 percent sure he is not in the bigs....I assume he is still in baseball at some level though, he is probably in his early 30s these days I guess.

The Marlins have had too many crap draft picks, going back to the expansion draft. Nigel Wilson was garbage. At least the Rockies #1, David Neid saw some time in the bigs...Wilson didnt do crap, at least not with this or any MLB organization. He did do ok in Japan if i recall.

Here are Billy McMillon's stats from http://www.milb.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pacific Coast League ? Sacramento River Cats 04/03 to 05/27

AVG G AB R H RBI 2B 3B HR BB SO SB CS
.336 37 152 31 51 35 10 0 8 17 30 1 1

Nice to see him doing well in AAA. I thought he should have made the team with us last year after a decent spring.

For what it's worth, here's Jaime Jones' stats:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
California League ? Lancaster JetHawks 04/05 to 05/27

AVG G AB R H RBI 2B 3B HR BB SO SB CS
.318 49 179 32 57 32 7 1 7 10 25 2 1

He is playing in single-A because he is attempting a "comeback" after being out of the game for one or two years.

Yes- you're correct. Actually, he was just promoted to the majors after Ron Gant's release.
