Hold the fuck up....maybe I'm misreading...you're telling me they left Wittgren exposed? Or is this list just about who would require protection?

Nah it's just guys who are potentially Rule V now. The Marlins have the opportunity to protect players, which I assume Garcia, Wittgren, Brice, Pineyro, and Araujo are guys they will look to protect.

So they did protect Garcia/Wittgren/Brice, which was to be expected. Not sure why they didn't find a way to protect Pineyro. 24 years old and had a 2.70 ERA in New Orleans. Felt like a solid get in the Haren trade and now we're just gonna let any team take him in the Rule V Draft.

Basically it came down to the Marlins valued Esch over Pineyro. I find Pineyro to be a better pitcher and a year and a half younger (plus closer to the majors). If I'm a major league team I'm looking to take Pineyro at the top of the draft.
