Good. Solid bat and a local guy. Save the starter depth or trade a starter to recoup some prospects.

Because he's a good bat? Nobody is throwing a parade but this is a nice addition.

Besides replacing Jones who is garbage, why should we be excited about this?

Well, I mean, he's no Craig Stem in terms of excitability, but still a pretty a solid signing.

Not for nothing but that is a pretty solid reason in itself.

At the least this is an upgrade at first over Jones, is a better fit in the lineup than Headley would have been, we don't lose any prospects or other key players, it increases our power, and he'll make a better cleanup hitter than McGehee. This doesn't make us a worse team so I don't see how we can't at least give this a thumbs up.

Good deal. Good power bat behind Stanton. I would actually keep jones as a power bat off the bench who can hit righties.

This is by far the least exciting first base option.

Not arguing with you (unless you say Bour), but who's a better (realistic) option at this point? The first base class after LaRoche is just so bad.

I can't give it a thumbs up because the moves the team has made leads me to believe they want to win now. A morse signing isn't really a win now move especially in our infield.

I'm happy they upgraded (by a little), just not thrilled with the choice.

Fair assessment, thought as I asked Wild Card, what would you have done at first base if you were in the FO?

I hope they're giving Morse $100 million per year so people can say Loria finally raised payroll.

I don't get you guys, this is a terrific signing. If healthy this guy has one of the better bats. BOTH Gordon AND Morse will be excellent hitters in Marlins Park!!!
