ATLANTA -- Atlanta Braves starter Mike Hampton strained his groin against the Texas Rangers and left Thursday's game in the second inning. The team listed him as day to day.

Hampton appeared to hurt himself while coming off the mound to field a sacrifice by Rangers pitcher Victor Santos. First baseman Robert Fick made the play, and Hampton left the game after working 1 2/3 innings.

Hampton started the season on the disabled list with a strained right calf. He was activated April 19 and entered Thursday with a 2-3 record and 4.18 ERA.
