there is an article on ESPN that Robert Beck "Shooter" currently playing for the Iowa Cubs the AAA affiliate of the cubs, has a handshake agreement that he can leave the club if a major league opportunity arise.

Could the fish use him, this is part of what he said. "if you tell me that I'm your guy and you give me the ball everyday, I can get you 35 to 50 saves a year. Guaranteed. I just need the opportunity."

He's only throwing 86 MPH at best.

Unless he has an unreal breaking pitch or splitter or changeup or great control, he'll get mashed in crucial part of games.

unless he can still play. ;)
He CAN'T

The only reason he is with The Cubs was strictly P.R. because of his history plain and simple.

I didnt like Beck when he was 'good'

I had a heart attack whenever I watched him pitch and try to close out games for his team....

Beck is finished....if the Marlins pick him up that would be idiotic...especially when Looper is doing a pretty good job in the closer role to start with.
