Overheard him talking in the pen today to Rick Kranitz and Felix Rodriguez after warming up and then getting told to sit. Says that if he's seen his last outing this year, that pisses him off, to put it lightly. He says if the Marlins aren't gonna give him a chance to let him go and let him pitch somewhere else or send him down but don't have him benchwarm for most of the spring.

Just overheard it. Take it for what its worth.

he hasnt exactly made a case for himself
in his defense he was scoreless in 5 or 6 innings till his blow up last game

that being sad, give him his release

First of all until yesterday or the day before Corcoran was having a very good spring, albeit in sparse use.

6 games, 6.1 innings, 1 hit, no runs. Pretty darn good. Until he ran into a buzzsaw against Boston.

I would say two things. First, the fact he wants to go out there and show that was a fluke is a good thing. And second, that he's mad (probably more at himself than anyone else or the organization) is a good thing too. If any one of us were in the last week of ST after performing well only to see it all go up in smoke in what may have been his last appearance is going to cause alot of people angry. It's Kranitz' job (in this case) to harness that frustration and turn it into a positive.

I'd be more upset if he just took it in stride.

The next Billy Wagner! Now now, seriously, give him his release if he wants to play in Triple A so much...

I got his autograph (no surprise there) a couple of weeks ago. He was really nice.

I hope our other relievers don't have this type of reaction due to the Julio signing. It's got to be a shot to the self-esteem of the likes of Messenger, Lindstrom, and Owens, that they've pitched lights out all spring, only to lose the job to a guy who just drops in out of nowhere.

i bet they don't feel bad about it. all three guys are making the team. so no worries.

What is a Roy Corcoran?
it's when a no name pitcher has a good few innings in Spring Training, blows up in one of his final appearances, thinks that blew his chance at making the team, when he never had a chance to begin with

I wasn't saying he isn't nice. If I were him, I wouldn't be mad at that being my last outing, I'd be mad that I wasn't given much of a chance. Aside from that Red Sox pounding, he wasn't too bad. I doubt he would've made the team even without the Red Sox outing though.

And he didn't drop in out of nowhere. This guy has been on the radar for a couple years. The FO has made no secret of the fact they wanted him. The last couple weeks have amplified that. Plus these are basically rookies that are going to learn and move into that slot in the future. I think they all realize that.
Corcoran sucked in Ft Meyers on Sunday. Flat out blew that game singlehandedly. He's probably more ticked off at himself for such a lousy outing at a time when every outing can be for your job.
