The Marlins are expected to wait until next Friday, at the earliest, to activate Taylor Tankersley (shoulder) from the disabled list.
Tankersly gave up three runs in a rehab game for Single-A Jupiter on Thursday.

It's the right thing to do as our pen has not been a problem yet (besides Julio), and we can possibly build up our guys trade value this week. That and Tank got shelled the other night.

Hermida update: Injured outfielder Jeremy Hermida is likely a few more weeks away from being activated.

On the disabled list retroactive to March 23, Hermida technically can be reinstated any time. But the 23-year-old is just starting to hit off a tee and beginning to move around.

Hermida has been rehabbing at the Roger Dean Stadium complex in Jupiter, Fla., where he is recovering from a deep bone bruise to his right kneecap.

"He hasn't done anything," Gonzalez said of Hermida doing baseball-related activities. "You hate to rush a guy with three games in a Minor League rehab and run him back out there."

Hermida took a foul ball of his right kneecap on March 17, and an MRI taken a few days later showed the bone bruise.

Considering the amount of time he has already missed, it will be a few more weeks before Hermida's swing is at a point where he can return and be productive.

The team wants Hermida healthy and ready to contribute when he returns.

As of now, there is no timetable for when he will begin playing in Minor League games. "I'm not thinking four games and he's ready to go, no matter what happens," Gonzalez said.
