I have two 250 GB WD external hard drives to go along with my 120 GB internal.

Sometimes when I'm using my computer, if I want to empty the recylce bin or select other operations, before what I've told the computer to do does anything, the hard drives have to rev up and as soon as the operation happens.

Anyone know why this is and if there is anything I can do to keep it from doing this?

Thanks.

Well, the files you're deleting are coming from different hard drives, so all the drives have to rev up to complete the process.

I get that, but it isn't just things like emptying the recycle bin.

I'd like to get it so that they will only rev up when their drives are directly affected.
