What we have in this deal seems to be a split between this team's fans.

I am going to once again propose the two factions that we have.

One one hand we have the HOYA other wise known as Hands On Your A$$. Basically this means that the front office can do no wrong and things will eventually turn around so why bother worrying if this team is going to go about and improve cause it will eventually happen. This is the side Ramp is the strongest supporter.

Here are some images of HOYA:

Conversely, you have the other faction. The one that is lead by Das Texan. This side is called BAMA, B*tch And Moan Association. Basically BAMA, is never content unless the organization is making real moves that ensure both the short term and long term success of the organization. BAMA members do not like sitting around and waiting when moves can be made to better an organization. BAMA does not but into this we are building for the future so screw the present garbage or the entire 'bathwater' crap. And it goes on.

Here are some images of BAMA:

I consider myself a part of the BAMA faction. Enough prospects, enough future this and that. I want to see a competitive team and a contending team in 2003...

Well, lets think in a good way... Hampton had the worst ERA on the road, what happens if he stays the same... we'd be paying the braves to flunk

Tho I prefer to stay in BAMA cause I know this will never happen

Tear,

There is a third unmentioned faction.

Its called OTF, for On the Fence.

This faction is one that is intended for the short term, but generally ends up being long term for those that are undecided between BAMA and HOYA.....

Here's my position. (I'm sure everyone's waiting breathlessly...)

I was initially furious at hearing the completed deal. After all these assets and players and money changing hands, we are left with a decent reliever and a prospect? Furious isn't the word, it was more like disillusioned, disgusted, etc. The one saving point of this however is that the possibility DOES exist that Hampton will not return to his "former glory" and that he really has fallen apart, in which case we would be stuck with him. I was prepared to take that chance however, and I think that's a risk you take. As things stand now, we have managed to clear 2 suffocating player contracts, and Sampson/Beinfest have stated that they are looking for players to improve the team next season. By my calculations we should have no trouble keeping the remaining team together, while picking up a meaningful bat to help the offense. My final opinion on the deal as usual, hinges upon what happens next.
If we don't take this 8 or 9 million & do something serious with it, then management are liars and have no plans to make any serious attempt at a playoff team. We shall see.

I hereby declare myself part of the BAMA faction. I am sick of prospects and the rebuilding crap. We have been rebuilding since 1998 and 4 years later we still look like the Titanic at the end of every Spring Training: thinking that this ship cannot be sinked even by God, and by the end looking for a nonexistent boat to escape this sinking nightmare!

I like CBSSPORTSLINE feel that the Marlins CAN NOT be taken seriously by MLB or the FANS. They didn't do themselves any favors. OK CJ is gone.... maybe if he had a chance, he would have done better.

I'd be more then happy to have him and Preston in the fantasy leagues. If it weren't for that Pitching staff, there would be very little hope of even finishing 10 under .500

I was a BAMA after they traded Cliff, then I managed to get ON THE FENCE, after this I will need all the Kings Horses and all the Kings Men.

David Samson might not want me as a fan........ but atleast he responded after I torched his butt the first time....still waiting on yesterdays email.

You too????

At least you can email him and recieve one of his form letters....

You cannot email anyone else in the front office, unless they have different user names for their addresses.....

I emplored Samson to respond with a real letter this time and not a form letter...we shall see...

What is it that you are asking the front office anyway?

I am at a loss as to why this would make you feel any better. Jeffrey Loria could come personally to my front door and give me the same line we always hear, why would that make any difference? You already know the answers to any questions you could possibly ask him. "We're here for the long run, we're making moves to stay competative, we're a small-market team and we have certain budget restraints we have to meet, blah blah blah blah." Why do you want personal responses that say the same things over & over? As far as I'm concerned, the only acceptable answers will come in the form of action.

I am just curious......

Just would love to know what their real plan is and not to be like a politican and send back form letters...

Of course I have gotten personalized responses every now and then...so I guess anything is possible...

For Bama:

Jim Ross(of wwe) always says You can't buy grocery's with potential. I think that is a great quote with a lot of meaning.
