Someone can correct me on this, but wasn't there an article (maybe SI?!?) about the cost for each win? As I recall it seemed like it was about the Astros, how the amount varies but sometimes it costs more to put together a team that's not in contention than one that is.
I'm not saying that's what the Marlins did, but fiscally it does makes sense.
I've followed Spaeder for a few years, and there's a couple things.
1) He's a Phillies fan, so, this may be more of his hope than actual thoughts.
2) He will sometimes post stuff like this to get a reaction out of people - maybe he does actually believe this, but I doubt it. Last night he went on a tweet streak of Altuve vs Pete Rose stats and he knows it'll get a rise out of some people [and boy does it - I kind of enjoy it myself lol].
He's not a bad guy. Does kinda humblebrag a bit but that's whatever.
