The Miami Dolphins today signed All-Pro middle linebacker Zach Thomas to a five-year contract extension through the 2008 season.

Thomas, 29, is coming off his fourth straight Pro Bowl selection in 2002 when he recorded a career-high 195 tackles, an interception, a half-sack and five passes defensed. It marked the second straight year and sixth time in his seven seasons that he led the Dolphins in tackles. In addition, he was a first-team All-Pro selection by the Associated Press.

A fifth-round draft choice in 1996 out of Texas Tech, Thomas has started all 105 games in which he has played during his career. Over that span, he has registered 1,131 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, four fumble recoveries, seven forced fumbles and 50 passes defensed. He has returned four of his 12 career interceptions for touchdowns, the most in Dolphins history.

(I'ma big Phins fan). It wouldn't upgrade the whole defense very much, 'cause he's not 26 anymore, but it would definatley upgrade OLB a lot. What we need is an offensive lineman an to re-sign Gadsden, because i don't think he will be offered much more than what the Dolphins are gonna give 'um...
