Most Valuable Player

Winner: Kevin Garnett

Finally, KG gets the MVP! He deserves this long awaited award. Could this year be KG's Year? We'll find out soon enough. Garnett is going to receive the MVP Trophy on Tuesday in front of the home crowd. I hope TNT will be showing the presentation. :)

Citizenship Award

Winner: Reggie Milller

Link

It's good to see Reggie Miller helping out his community. Not every NBA superstar would do that.

Defensive Player of the Year

Winner: Ron Artest

About time some other position than center wins the award. I'm gald to see Artest winning the award. Too bad he didn't receive it in the front of the home crowd since he was suspended for Game 2.

Rookie of the Year

Winner: LeBron James

Link

I'm glad to see LBJ winning the award since he is the 3rd rookie to have 20,5, and 5 since Michael Jordan. And he lived up to the hype.

Coach of the Year

Winner: Hubie Brown

Link

Hubie Brown is the Coach of the Year.

I thought Jerry Sloan was going to win this award since he didn't have any good players except for AK-47.

Most Improved Player

Winner: Zach Randolph

Link

I'm glad to see him award since he didnt get on the All-Star team. His scoring and rebounds numbers doubled from last year.

Sixth Man

Winner: Antawn Jamison

Link

I can't say he doesn't deserve the award but he does help the Mavs off the bench. Bobby Jackson would win it if he didn't get injuried. Some say Alston should get the award.

Sportsmanship Award

Winner: P.J. Brown

Link

It was close race between PJ Brown and Elton Brand. Both are team players and they don't get cocky like most players in the NBA.

You could make a very good case for Alston but I haven't followed Bobby and Antawn all season so I don't know how much better they were.

But Skip has been incredible. You couldn't ask for a better 6th man. He brings energy and he makes big shots. Plus, this guy has like 140 3's on the year OFF THE BENCH, he's like 5th in the league. And he has a 3 point consecutive streak in the 40's.

how about manu for sixth man :)

out of all the candidates...

only jamison is likely to be on the door out of his city.

Manu started 38 games and played 39 games as a Sixth Man. Does he even qualify for the award? yes.

the qualification is to come off the bench more than you start.

its fun loving a team that plays like a team and with players like david robinson first and then tim duncan.

can you seriously ask for 2 better franchise players?

I hate to say it but Shaq and Kobe. The problem with them is they don't get along all the time. Other than that the Twin Towers and possibly Malone and Stockon & Jordan and Pippen.

I think Sloan deserved COY. Memphis has a better team than the Jazz and they're gonna get swept, but Utah was supposed to be awful and they would have scored home court in the East with that record.

There is no comparision between Memphis and Utah's rosters.

and if the spurs win....

duncan will have eliminated shaq and kobe 3 times compared to their 2.

:) I would love to see that. It's even better if the Spurs sweep them. Kobe and GP will leave the LA. :lol

I see your point but to take a team that was a nobody, lead them to win 50 wins (in the midwest div too), and their first playoff appearance ever at a decent seed..ALL IN THE WEST. That's pretty f-ing amazing.

If the Jazz had actually made the playoffs, he would have had a better chance.

If the Jazz had actually made the playoffs, he would have had a better chance. Yeah but compared to Utah, Memphis is an all star team. Stro, Gasol, Mike Miller, Battier, Jason Williams, James Posey, Bonzi Wells, this team is (dare I say it) loaded! They have a good team throughout the roster.

But Utah has a bunch of FIU clowns (no offense but its gotta be hard to win with 2 FIU players on your team).

And yeah Miggys Ladi if Utah made the playoffs this award goes to Sloan handsdown!

Yeah I gotcha, it is a true accomplishment for a guy to lead his team into playoff contention races in the west when most people can't even name all of their starters. s*** I know I can't...AK47, Arroyo, Ostertag..????

it's hard naming the starting 5. Giricek is other starter. I'm not sure who is the other starter. It's not Raja Bell that's all I know.

Your secret 4th man...

Yeah, not much of a starter. Before he got here it was this man:

who could probably walk around the city for a whole day and sign about 3 autographs.

And Tag doesn't start no more, it's the evil twin Collins, Jarron. They're both real dirty players though. :)
