MVPosey
i did a point system where I ranked the franchises based on the following categories: WS won pennants hall of famers franchise wins franchise win loss and ranked them from most prestige and history to least prestige and history: 1. Baltimore/ New York Yankees 2. New York/ San Francisco Giants 3. St. Louis Cardinals 69.5 4. Brooklyn/ Los Angeles Dodgers 65.75 5. Philadelphia/ Kansas City/ Oakland Athletics 50 6. Hugg
what the hell is this? A scheme MaysBonds cooked up to make the Giants look like the 2nd best all-time franchise in baseball.
Guest Moneyball
i think the red sox should be higher than the cubs and the dodgers should be in 2nd

Guest Juanky
Yeah the Giants don't deserve Top 5, much less #2. How the Cubs made #8 is beyond me, being they haven't had back to back winning seasons in millenia. The Reds, with the second best dynasty in the history of baseball, should at least be Top 5 material. The Twins and Phillies have done absolutely nothing to deserve being ranked so high, neither do the A's or Indians, while the Orioles should be in the Top 10. The formula should be adapted to measure quality not quantity, as I agree that teams like the Marlins and DBacks have not been around long enough to be considered Top 10 franchises but there are some cases here where longetivity won out over success (Cubs being ranked so high, Giants so high, etc.). Try also to include playoff appearances, because Atlanta, despite being horrendous in the playoffs, has run off a streak unparalleled in sports history. They most definately are a Top 10 franchise. MVPosey
How are the Phillies in front of the Mets. The Phillies are only one of the losingest franchises ever. They're over they've been around almost three times as long, that's why I'll summarize how I ranked it: 40% WS wins 20% Pennants (Giants #3 overall) 10% hall of famers that played any point of their career with that team 10% hall of famers that played most of their career with that team 10% franchise wins 10% franchise winning percentage. I broke the teams up into the two categories, the original 16 and the 14 expansion teams. Here's how they rank is each category: WS Wins (counting the NL- AA World Series): rank team (# of WS wins) points 1. Yankees (26) 32 2. St. Louis Cardinals (10+tie) 30 3. Philadelphia/ Kansas City/ Oakland Athletics (9) 28 4. New York/ San Francisco Giants (7) 26 5. Brooklyn/ Los Angeles Dodgers (6+tie) 24 6. Philadelphia Phillies 15.75 And about the Giants: more hall of famers than any other team more wins than any other team second highest winning percentage third most pennants fourth most WS wins
RippyO
Yeah, but who cares about the time Willie Mays played for the Mets, Hank Aaron played for the Brewers, or when Babe Ruth played for the Braves. It's things like that that mess up your system. And you should start your rankings from 1901 - that's generally agreed to be the start of modern baseball. How come the Giants site says they only have 27 players inducted as Giants? I guess they dont know as much as you do. Giants Website Cause if you're counting guys like Duke Snider, Steve Carlton. Joe Morgan, and Rogers Hornsby as Giants inductees, you're sadly mistaken.
