June 20, 200421 yr Just off the top of my head Kevin Orie and Nigel Wilson but overall probably Wilson. I'll try to think of some more. Anyone have any other names that fits this catergory?
June 20, 200421 yr Author Joe Fontenot is up there. I remember him pitching against the Braves......UGH :banghead He was also a first round pick with the Giants. HE WAS THE F****** center piece to the Rob Nen trade :banghead Nevermind I think Fontenot tops the list.
June 20, 200421 yr Ramon Castro Think about it, his "upside" tempted us to allow the greatest all around catcher of the past 25 years to walk. Say what you want about Pudge's contract demands being the source of his departure, but if Castro weren't here at least tempting Beinfest to see what he could do; Pudge would have gotten his money and stayed.
June 20, 200421 yr Author Also Julio Rameriz? I remember hearing about how he was a 5 tool player and what not and where is he now? Last I heard he was traded to the White Sox. Bust!
June 21, 200421 yr Author Jason Grilli? Imagine If this kid could have been healthy...... :banghead Gotta admit though he pitched a nice game against the Braves a couple years back.
June 21, 200421 yr Clearly Josh Booty. At the end of the expansion daft I fantasized Nigel Wilson would be hitting homer and homer in teal (you know, back when the team wore teal), but Josh Boorty was a first rounder and was out of baseball in like 4 years.
June 21, 200421 yr Author Clearly Josh Booty. How could I have forgotten? :banghead Good Call! Former 1st round pick who is now a QB in the NFL? Seahawks?
June 21, 200421 yr Clearly Josh Booty. OMG Why did you have to remind me of him? That guy was horrible!
June 21, 200421 yr Should Tony Saunders be considered a bust? He broke his arm pitching at Tropicana Field I believe. I remember someone doing it and his name pops up.
June 21, 200421 yr Should Tony Saunders be considered a bust? well he wasnt a marlin when he got hurt and he was a nice piece of the 97 squad
June 21, 200421 yr Booty by a mile...we gave him a then-record signing bonus to sign with our team. A few years later, after a few dismal seasons, he opts to go back to college as a QB.
June 21, 200421 yr Josh Booty is certainly up there, especially with the amount of money it took to sign him.....another one that needs consideration is... RHP Jared Camp In the 1999 rule 5 draft the Marlins picked a left-hander named Johan Santana after the Twins had taken Camp with the 1st pick. The Fish then traded Santana, and some cash to the Twins for Camp. We ended up releasing Camp before ST 2000 ended...we weren't willing to keep him on the squad(for all of 2000) as a rule 5 draftee. Johan Santana hasn't been too bad of a pitcher for the Twins.
