minus
"Should Johnson land with the Angels, the Marlins could still benefit from the fallout. The clubs have discussed dealing Angels outfielder Jose Guillen for Double-A pitcher Randy Messenger and another prospect." Guillen signed a 2 year deal and he is only making 3.5 Mil per year if I'm not mistaken.
farmer_fran
The whole thing is contingent on the Johnson deal. So don't hold your breath.
Hotcorner
what about Rondell White instead? The Tigers would be more apt to deal him, probably for mid-level prospects, they're not really in a race, and we've dealt with them before. He's a decent bat, & is an okay left fielder despite a crappy arm... Not really an upgrade over Conine, but any extra bat could help. I guess the nice thing about Guillen is you can platoon him with Conine & Choi in LF or 1B...

WildMarlinMan2003
Guillen would not platoon with anyone! He is a starter for sure. Conine and Choi would be platooning. Look at Guillen's stats! (.302 BA, 18 HR, 76 RBI). We would also have Guillen for 2 years! Jose Guillen is the best option we have right now. I hope Anaheim gets Randy Johnson (but didn't Johnson say he would only go to the Yankees?).

Just playing devil's advocate, I'd take him for that proposed deal, but I don't think he's the player some do....)

PBMarlin
Would be a nice pick up if all we have to give up is a few prospects.
DaGreatOne
Question? Why is this guy up for trade if the Angels are in contention? Anything I dont know about.
Ramp
Chone Figgins, Vlad, Garrett Anderson, Darrin Erstad(even though he plays 1b), Tim Salmon, Jeff DaVannon maybe Moreno and Co think those guys can get it done
miami15
guillen would be great im a fan of his one of the best arms in the game 481108[/snapback] I saw Guillen play last year in Miller Park, and he's a talent. Would be a tremendous acquisition, but it's doubtful.

Das Texan
the angels only have about 6 guys trying to play 4 spots. I still dont know why the hell they signed mondesi
Ramp
rumor going around is that Guillen missed a players meeting and is now in the doghouse in Anaheim
DaGreatOne
Still makes no sense. If your trying to win this year you dont trade probably your 3rd best hitter for prospects. Only reasonable thing could be is what Ramp said that hes become a cancer in the clubhouse or something along those lines.
JJ24
TH angels havent really had a problem with hitting, it is there pitching. In landing johnson via a 3 way deal w/ the marlins, would benifit them alot more this year. But seeing Johnson in a Angel uniform doesnt look right
