geemoney
As per the Miami Herald, Perisho is 2nd in the league, having inherited 61 runners this year. He's only allowed 11 to score, the fourth lowest percentage in the league.
Flag Man
Perisho is a nice story. I wrote about him in Spring Training, mostly asking where does a guy with that kind of history come out looking "gang busters." He was great in ST and earned his spot. A journeyman who found his spot at the right time. Good for him! And us.
Guest FishFanInPA
A lot of people kill this guy on the board and one even made a worst pitcher sig for him. The man does the job and it's not his fault all those times Jack had him in vs. Righties....Huge props go to Perisho for doin his job. farmer_fran
I've been a big Perisho supporter, I think overall he's done a good job. The walks bother me, and if he could cut down on those he would be one of the top lefty specialists in the league.
Beinfest4Prez
Hey who would you rather have? Almanza or Perisho... I thought so...
Guest Juanky
He's a great lefty specialist, the problem happens when he is taken out of the role he has flourished in. Leave him in his element and he's great.
Admin
Remember "The Vulture"'s 1st week of the season when he picked up 2 wins? Came in to a tie game, threw 1 pitch, got a DP. Marlins took the lead in the bottom of the inning. If we use him like that, he's very effective.
fishywishy
Yeah, okay, inherited runners. What about the runners he puts on himself? Mentioning "The Vulture" makes me think of that Full House episode..
Admin
He doesn't put many lefties on. Batting .162 vs him.
Foladar
Perisho does his job, although I cringe when I see a righty come up :|
AGonzalez11
He's far from great, but for what he has he's done an admirable job. I'm not a Perisho hater or supporter, but I don't think he's that good. a decent lefty specialist.
Admin
He's not good at all vs righties but as a lefty specialist... he's one of the best in the game.
SongInTheAir
against righties, he looks like a BP pitcher. he definitely does his job against lefties though
83Gator
Lefties might only bat .162 against him, but their OPS is .664. That's still good but you'd expect better with a BAA of .162. He gives up too many walks to lefties (12 in 19 IP) and too many HRs (4 in 68 ABs). Nate Bump has walked less and given up fewer HRs to lefties in more lefty plate appearances. Don't get me wrong - Perisho has done well against lefties but he's not as good as it would seem just by glancing at the BAA. It looks like these left-handed NL relievers have done as well or better than Perisho against lefties this year: Arizona: Stephen Randolph (.635 OPS - he's started a couple of games) Cubs: Kent Mercker (.673 OPS) Rockies: Javier Lopez (.651 OPS) Expos: Joe Horgan (.595 OPS) Mets: John Franco (.543 OPS) Phillies: Rheal Cormier (.649 OPS) Pirates: Mike Gonzalez (.454 OPS) Giants: Jason Christiansen (.663 OPS) Cards: Ray King (.404 OPS), Steve Kline (.458 OPS)

Beinfest4Prez
For Perisho's numbers now, you would've died for last season when we had that fat bloated corpse we call Almanza...

rferry
For Perisho's numbers now, you would've died for last season when we had that fat bloated corpse we call Almanza... 529880 True. Perisho, like most pitchers who only face a batter or two per outing, are going to have good inherited runner rates. They don't have the chance to screw things up too much. For a while there Matt was walking guys to the clip of 5 per 9 IP and nearly pitchign hmself out of the league. Recently he's benn in good form and helping the Marlins win, which is all I ask from a player.
Flamarlins3
He has been pretty good except for a few big situations which everyone blasts him for. He isn't terrible, just gives up the big hit every now and then
Flag Man
Perisho is a nice story.? And us. 529753 Do you write for a newspaper or? 529916 I posted herein two or three times during ST about the Perisho story and what he was (amazingly) doing. Look into his story. It's about real baseball. No one herein wanted to talk about it last Spring.

MarlinFan10
Perisho smells, I don't care if he's among the lead leaders in stuff. He's a useless piece of pu. But at least he's one level about Almanza.
