Posted September 6, 200420 yr Wow. It doesn't look to be the easiest schedule in the world, but you can not buy that type of exposure. It takes a decades of choking, a few dozen beanballs and whiner in the owner's box. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...yankees_for_05/ You can start thinking about Yankees for '05 Schedule to begin, end with Yankees By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff | September 2, 2004 The Red Sox will play their 2005 season opener against the Yankees in New York April 4, then open their home schedule against the Yankees April 12, according to the preliminary schedule recently distributed to the 30 major league teams and union officials. The teams also are scheduled to end the regular season with a four-game series at Fenway Park Sept. 29-Oct. 2. Information pertaining to the schedule was obtained from an industry source, and both Sox principal owner John W. Henry, who serves on the scheduling committee, and Katy Feeney, a senior vice president for Major League Baseball in charge of scheduling, last night discouraged the publication of this information, stressing that it was subject to change. Teams have the right to request revisions. The Sox also are scheduled to make their first regular-season visits to St. Louis and Chicago's Wrigley Field as part of interleague play. The Sox are scheduled to meet the Cardinals June 6-8, then go to Wrigley June 10-12 to play the Cubs in the first regular-season meeting of two of baseball's most storied franchises. The Cincinnati Reds (June 13-15) and Colorado Rockies (June 17-19) pay their first regular-season visits to Fenway Park. The April series against the Yankees will both be two-game sets (April 4 and 6 in New York, April 12 and 13 in Boston). The other dates of the Yankees-Sox matchups: May 27-30 at New York, July 14-17 at Fenway Park, and Sept 9-11 at New York. All three of those series have been scheduled for weekends, as is the four-game set at the end of the season. The release of the schedule was delayed, the industry source said, because of uncertainty surrounding the Expos and where they will play next season. The tentative schedule has the Expos opening in Philadelphia.
