Posted June 26, 200321 yr Well, I was thinking. The marlins want to get rid of D. Lee but they could also use a reliable pitcher in the bullpen. So I said why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone. So what do you think of this trade with the Orioles? Orioles get: D. Lee and maybe a prospect or two. Marlins get: J. Conine and Pat Hentgen/Kerry Ligtenberg Ligtenber and Hentgen are reliable and have playoff experience so getting one of them would really help us I think. and Conine can take over first base until one of our 1st base prospects are ready. I know I'm probably just dreaming but I think this would be a great trade for the marlins, and I've heard that the orioles are trying to get rid of some of their older pitchers, and they definetly have the money to resign Lee. What do you think?
June 26, 200321 yr What's the point of thinking up trades if you know they'll never happen? Just discuss the ones that you know have a chance. No offense.
June 26, 200321 yr Author Hey you guys were discussing whether we would trade for Palmeiro a couple of days ago, I think that is way more farfetched.
June 26, 200321 yr I'll break it down and heres what i think Jeff Conine- Better than Lee, will become a fan favorite, having a great seaon in Baltimore, but he's being paid 4,250,000 bucks Lightenberg, is a great reliever very reliable in the pen , $1,000,000 Hentgen- is probably safe to call him "under average" he's 1-4 this year i believe with and ERA around 5. I say dont make the trade for all of them , because it's to much money, but we might be able to work something out with David Segui and Lightenberg...thats what i was thinking, they are both great low salary players
June 26, 200321 yr What's the point of thinking up trades if you know they'll never happen? Just discuss the ones that you know have a chance. No offense. Hell, why not discuss it..... Either that or beat Lowell with a dead horse. Besides, one of the purest and most satisfying rewards in life is fantasizing about dumping Lee's worthless a**. What's Hentgen and Porkchops' contracts look like?
June 26, 200321 yr Author Conine and Lee's salaries are a wash, they both make 4.25 million Hentgen makes $1.2 million Lightenberg $1 million
June 26, 200321 yr Hentgen's making 1,200,000...not worth it... ...also scratch what i said about Segui before he costs to much IF WE WANT A GOOD HITTING PLAYER FROM BALTIMORE WE SHOULD NEGOTIATE A DEAL WITH MELVIN MORA :hat
June 26, 200321 yr Lightenbergs stats and salary are really enticing( i think thats how you spell it)
June 26, 200321 yr If it were just Lee for Conine...I would take it. Conine is another leader for our young club. He is also productive and a very dependable player.
June 26, 200321 yr Lightenbergs stats and salary are really enticing( i think thats how you spell it) Yes, they are. I love Porckchop. I think his personality would fit in great with the other wack-jobs like Spoony.
June 26, 200321 yr If it were just Lee for Conine...I would take it. Conine is another leader for our young club. He is also productive and a very dependable player. It might help that the Mr. Marlin comback might sell some tickets, too...
June 26, 200321 yr Jeff Conine 1B/OF BAL Signed Mar 2002 - 2 years/$9.25M 2003: $4.25M 2004: $4.75M 2005: Team option $4.75M or $0.25M buyout
June 26, 200321 yr Jeff Conine 1B/OF BAL Signed Mar 2002 - 2 years/$9.25M 2003: $4.25M 2004: $4.75M 2005: Team option $4.75M or $0.25M buyout Who did he have naked pictures of to get that deal?
June 26, 200321 yr Author Well, do you think our young 1B prospects will be ready next year? If not I think this would be a great trade.
June 26, 200321 yr Not Likely. Adrian Gonzo is struggling but is still only 21. and Jason Stokes i would think should be moved to AA soon...
June 26, 200321 yr Guys remember that AJ struggled in the minors and has dominated in the big leagues.
June 26, 200321 yr Um.... Conine has been doing VERY well since leaving the Marlins after the 97 season. Really the 97 year is the only down year he has had in 10 years. Look at his numbers. They are better than Lee's. If you get a chance to bring Conine back home...you do it. Lee for Conine straight up is a good deal, I suspect you try add in a couple more players one way or another...perhaps one of our pitching prospects for a middle infield prospect (if they have any)
June 26, 200321 yr Conine is the best guy in the Lee-Conine battle. Lee is too problematic. If I was offered this trade, I would take it in a heartbeat.
