November 22, 200420 yr i agree with it...i would have banned S.Jackson for life though...the guys a punk..
November 22, 200420 yr i thought 30 games was enough, but the entire season is a lil too much IMHO. the suspensions should of looked like this imo: artest - 30 games jackson - 30 games O'Neal - 15 - 20 games wallace - 5 games
November 22, 200420 yr I am against it because I believe he got the season for the sole reason that it is Ron Artest. If anyone not named Rasheed Wallace or Latrell Sprewell does the same thing, they don't get nearly as much.

November 22, 200420 yr If this was TMac, Yao, etc. the suspension is 20 games, tops. Personally, I thought it was too harsh and I believe 30-40 games would've been more than adequate.
November 22, 200420 yr Does anyone find it odd that Artest didn't freak out when Big ass Ben Wallace gave him a two-handed shot to the dome but freaked out when a little nerdy kid threw a cup at him?
November 22, 200420 yr What to me is strange is that dont you guys remember how artest wanted to quit basketball to record an album or w/e it was. Maybe he was looking for a way out and got it

November 22, 200420 yr Not harsh enough. He should have spent the night in jail. 619926 So should that tosser that threw the beer.

But the punishment is too harsh. Stern atleast let the Pacers get Artest back for the playoffs. Does anyone find it odd that Artest didn't freak out when Big ass Ben Wallace gave him a two-handed shot to the dome but freaked out when a little nerdy kid threw a cup at him? Didn't fans gave him BS all night? Calling him the "N" word?

When he had a chance to take out his anger he went after a fan.
November 22, 200420 yr Too harsh. I'm just gonna say it. Black guy beating up a white guy. That's how things go in the court of law; and apparently it goes just so on the court of basketball. I don't want to make Artest out to be a martyr either, cause he's mostly just an idiot. But the more I think about it, the more sure I am that this penalty was ridiculous.

It has to do with Artest's past, him going into the crowd and attacking innocent fans. Nice job by the NBA but I would have kicked him out of the league for good. He's tarnished the image of the NBA with his antics.
November 22, 200420 yr It has to do with Artest's past, 620069 Problem with that is, punishment should have been for this crime, not for a past of leading the league in flagrant fouls. Again, if Kobe Bryant or one of the other poster childs of the league does this, the suspension is ten games maybe.
November 22, 200420 yr Too harsh.? I'm just gonna say it.? Black guy beating up a white guy.? That's how things go in the court of law; and apparently it goes just so on the court of basketball. I don't want to make Artest out to be a martyr either, cause he's mostly just an idiot.? But the more I think about it, the more sure I am that this penalty was ridiculous. 620048 It has nothing to do with race. Everybody who says so is a bigot. He's tarnished the image of the NBA with his antics. 620069 Then I'm a bigot because I really think this has to do partly with race. I was thinking about this whole thing today, and it seemed to me that a large percentage of the people coming to Artest's defense are black, and a large percentage of those dumping on him are white. Obviously, these divisions aren't like OJ-sharp or anything, but I think they're there. I also keep hearing people classify these fans as innocent all of a sudden. Why do you think they were innocent? Also, could someone detail for me what Artest has done in the past? I know he's been erratic, but what has he done that's truly bad? Worst I've seen so far is that he threw a TV camera. And that's really all I've seen.
November 23, 200420 yr A bit too harsh. In addition, I think the Piston's organization deserves some kind of punishment as well. Where the heck was security? That was ridiculous
