Posted December 3, 200420 yr Didn't see it posted, but saw it on TV..so no link yet 4 yr - 40 million for Pavy.
December 3, 200420 yr Yeah, I read that somewhere, so I know its on a website, I didn't post it because I don't respect the Tigers enough to put them on this board.
December 3, 200420 yr Same deal they offered Pudge... damn them and their 4 years and 40 million dollars.
December 4, 200420 yr Have fun with your trader teammate in Detroit Pavano. 626439 First off, traitor. Second off, if he feels like taking up on their offer it's his prerogative. If a company offered you more money and all you had to do was move and everything else in your life would be as good or better, wouldn't you consider it too? Players don't "owe" us and don't have to stay here if they don't want to.

If you were working somewhere and you were offered more money and more job security somewhere else, why would you decline it? This may be Pavano's only chance at big money and he deserves to take it and look out for his own best interests. I'd love to see him come back, but I don't think the Marlins can compete with all these offers... And yes, damn Detroit and their 4 year/$40 mil contracts... This will be 2 years in a row... What's next? Offering A.J Burnett the same contract next offseason?
December 4, 200420 yr he will decline it. hes clearly said he wants to play for a winner like boston,or yanks or a team with alot of fans. i dont know why he would want to go play for detroit.
December 4, 200420 yr It seems like the Tigers just like the Cubbies love to scoop up former Marlins.

December 4, 200420 yr Have fun with your trader teammate in Detroit Pavano. 626439 Would you turn down FOURTY MILLION DOLLARS? I don't think so.
December 4, 200420 yr If you're not pissing money away like a drunken oil sheik, anything much over a few mil a year doesn't really matter. Once you can support a comfortable lifestyle and handle your retirement, "more" is just numbers on a piece of paper. 626681 What's the point of having all that money if you're gonna pinch pennies until you're 70 or 80 and can't really enjoy it that much anyway? Edit: Derrek Lee and Matt Clement haven't performed too poorly for the Cubs either.
December 4, 200420 yr I don't think he will take Detroit's offer, since he has said that he wants to play for a winner. Then again, he said he wanted to stay with the Marlins up until a month ago.
December 4, 200420 yr http://www.freep.com/sports/tigers/tigers4e_20041204.htm Pavano's agent denied that that was the true offer, although he said the team did make an opening offer.
December 4, 200420 yr nice to see the Tigres doin somethin for the 2nd year in a row 626436 well, they're owner doesn't have the Redwings to spend on so now he's going to devote all his money to the Tigers instead
December 4, 200420 yr Author I don't know he'll decline the offer because "he wants to play for a winner" as he said Detroit is clearly a choice of his.
December 4, 200420 yr At this point, you shouldn't believe anything Pavano says. I don't really care, let them overpay this one year wonder.
