Mets have signed him

Had a good future....

Ramon Castro - C - Mets

Mets signed catcher Ramon Castro to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

While Castro was a major disappointment after getting a chance to replace Ivan Rodriguez last season, it was just 96 at-bats. He's a better player than a few catchers who will be starting for major league teams on Opening Day, but it looks like he'll have to head back to Triple-A to prove himself. Dec.

Update:

Ramon Castro homered, singled and drove in four runs yesterday for Mayaguez of the Puerto Rican League.

Maybe Castro is ready to start hitting now that he has his situation for 2005 taken care of. He entered yesterday with a .105 average in 18 games. Dec. 24 - 2:03 pm et

He's doing good... :)

That means jack shiat..... He burned through that league last winter. The quality of pitching right now is somewhere between single A and AA.

Face it... he sucks.....he can't play with the big boys......

And yes, I grew up watching that league. It used to be awesome. But for the past few years they have not been able to atract good talent, the native stars refuse to play in it except for 2 or 3 guys. The attandance is horrible (current average is about 800 people per game). Sad situation for a league with so much history.
