Marlins Dog Day

Featured Replies

I dont remember if it was last year or the year before, but the Marlins held an afternoon game where fans could bring their dogs and the dogs were sweltering out in the heat all day. Well, "Bark at the Park" will be back this year, this time for a night game-Friday, August 28 against Montreal. Tickets in the Dog Pound are $9 for adults, $5 for dogs (i assume its going for charity again), and $3 for kids.

I also noticed a few other promotions added to the calendar, dont know if these had been mentioned before: Luis Castillo 35-game hitting streak bobblehead to the first 10,000 on Saturday, July 26 against the Phillies

Pudge Rodriguez bobbleahead to first 10,000 fans on Saturday August 2 against the Astros

Also AIDS awareness night Tuesday August 12 against the Dodgers-$20 tickets can be purchased with all proceeds going to AIDS research.

And also, the "1st annual Marlins sports card and memorabilia appraisal fair" on Sunday, September 14. Fans can bring in cards and items to be appraised in a tent outside the stadium from 10:30 am until the end of the game.

On Saturday, August 30, against the Expos, 10,000 Dontrelle Willis baseballs will be given out. Hope an ump doesnt make a bad call that night.

I seriously doubt hes going to autograph 10,000 balls.

:lol

Didn't think so.

BUT, there was a commercial a long while back in which Craig Counsell is seen sitting at a table in a dark room with stacks of pictures (10,000), and he is autographing them. It was a Marlins promotion where the first 10K fans got real autographed photos...

Umps make bad calls every game. That's why they give you a certificate to enter the park and you turn it in when you exit. They don't want a repeat of Philly's battery incident.

:lol

There's a reason for that...

At the time they were giving away tose photocards that stood up...

It was in 98...

Counsell's jaw was broken on that CJ Nitkowski pitch, if you remember...and he wasn't playing...he was just at home...so he volunteered to auto all of them. I've got one ;)

I'm kind of disappointed with the Conine bobbleheads given away on Sunday. His head is amazingly huge, and it doesn't have much of a resemblance to him.

The pictures of the Pudge ones look pretty good, though!
