Jameer Nelson's numbers in March:

37.4 mpg, 16.5 ppg, 5.2 apg, 2.1 turnovers/game, 1.7spg, all on 50% shooting.

Is he effectivley the PG for this team from here on out or what? I mean his stats in March are sick. Clearly he is NBA material. With one year under his belt and a good/smart coach to bring in, isnt it pretty much a smart move to say Nelson is definitley our PG from here on out? With Nelson and Howard, in one to two years could we pretty much have a two man combination such as what the Spurs have with Duncan and Parker? Both Nelson and Howard are young and inexperienced but both give us optimism for the future if we let them get used to each other which is going to be key.

Which brings up another issue. Shooting guards are much more available than centers. If Francis is just a shooting guard for this team, is he really worth that much? Should we trade him now and get something good in return. The problem with that is that the only positions for which value is usually had is C/PF and PG. There are no centers out there that we could have and Nelson is the PG. So it would have to be a risk at SG for a team willing to risk Francis.

Here is an outside shot for which I am prepared to be called numerous expletives.

What are the chances of an Artest-Francis swap? I know Artest is a wackjob and might not be wanted by JW. But he would give the team the defensive angle it might need. Plus if we can bring in a coach that can calm him down, it would be worth it. Phil Jackson anyone(I can dream cant I?)

Phil is going to Cleveland or Minnesotta if he comes back...

Nelson is definitely the real deal, and I think it would be best for the team if Francis was traded. If we were to trade Francis I would hope we could get a first round pick and a couple of solid players to come off the bench.

Any ideas? The way the Magic are playing now, they likely could end up anywhere from 10-13 through the draft. Id prefer if they could add another core veteran scorer through the trade and then draft SF to groom to replace Hill. Frankly they should have never traded Mobley.

Let me start by saying Im not a Magic fan. Nelson is a bad ass. He can shoot, he can pass, and he can steal. Nelson could be the steal of the draft. If he was playing earlier in the season he couldve been rookie of the year.

If he put up the sort of numbers he did in March over the course of the year, then hands down he would be rookie of the year. That said, he has had the luxury of being eased into the NBA over the course of the year rather than thrown into the mix which can affect rookies.

Knowing how the Magic do things, Nelson will get traded to the Clippers for some obscure crap player and end up doing great LA.

I agree with you. Nelson wasn't getting as much playing time at the beginning of the season but was showing signs of being a great player when he did play. Now he is going to get a chance to show how good of a player he is because he is going to get A LOT of playing time now that Christie and Turkoglu are out for the season.

As for the coach of the Magic. I've been hearing rumors that Eric Musselman is the leading candidate as the new head coach.

A change of scenery may be the answer for Artest. There would be less pressure on him for a couple of years in Orlando. If it's possible, I say do it. I think that by what I have seen thus far in Nelson, I'd be willing to declare him our starting pg of the future. Seriously. He's only going to get better with experience.

As for coach, I would love Flip Saunders. I wouldn't mind giving Paul Silas a shot either to tell you the truth.

I LOVE doing lineups.

C-Cato, DQ

PF-Howard, Battie

SF-Hill, Garrity, Hakim Warrick(slip to 13?)

SG-Artest, Hedo

PG-Nelson, ?

The problem is, Artest might not be the best of influences for Howard and Nelson. As I was thinking about it, I remembered hte interview Artest had in his truck about needing time off to do his record. I wonder if the guy is getting a bad rap or he always has and always will be a maverick who does his own thing. The Magic would seriously need a coach that could get him to buy into a system. I know getting Phil Jackson would be a long shot if even that. But he is the only coach to ever get a player that was just like Artest to buy into playing-Rodman. Of course Jordan and Pippen helped too.

It would definitely be a risk, and Phil Jackson would be the safest bet as a coach who could control Artest.

How could we get a more suited center than Cato? Would any team be willing to give up a true big man for a guy like Francis? I would like to get a guy like Dampier or something along those lines to really get a big man in the middle at least part of the game.

Do you think that Howard could move to center?

I think Flip Saunders is gonna be the Magic next head coach.

Francis, is he a FA at the end of this season? If he isnt, trade him for Ray Allen or Michael Redd and have Nelson be starting PG.

The problem is true centers who are effective are the rarest commodity in the NBA. I think Dampier may have just been locked up to a long term contract for a few year and Im not sure any team would want to trade him right now.

Howard probably couldnt play C but probably doesnt need to. Some of the best players dont play C and dont have or didnt have good ones and did pretty well such as Duncan and Garnett.

Francis is locked up for a bit longer in terms of contract. I suppose its possible to do a sign and trade for those guys. The knock on Redd is he doesnt play defense which wouldnt be good for this team. Allen has been known to complain a lot and is doing great in his contract year. Though it might be worth going after him through a sign and trade.

I want Ray Allen in Orlando.

I would love to get Ray Allen. Jameer Nelson is the real deal! Last draft I wanted Howard and Nelson and thats exactly what we got! In a couple of years everyone will see that we had the best '04 draft. Enough of these Steven Hunter, Michael Doleac, Johnny Taylor, Jerryl Sasser type picks.

Nelson is a PG who can pass, play smart, and shoot 50%. He is the real deal and I really hope Weisbrod doesn't f*$k up this team anymore than he already has. The reason we aren't going to the playoffs this year is because we traded Mobley (player in his prime) for a retiring Christie who is useless now.

I hate Phil Jackson and Artest although I would welcome Jackson as a coach because I know we would be a winner. Artest is a waste of talent and belongs on the street.

With Howard, Nelson, Hill, Turkoglu, and Francis, this team has a bright future. I would love to trade Francis for a great SG like Ray Allen.

Nelson is the real deal...I watched him throughout college and his quickness and ability to shoot will put him in the top 10 PG's in the league within 3 years.
