Posted April 18, 200519 yr Pictures from Fri Night's game Pictures from Saturday's game Game notes: - I have seen enough Beltran jerseys to last me a lifetime. - On Saturday a Marlins fan was tossed from the Loge level (don't know what he did) but he went out yelling and screaming how great the Marlins were. - Leiter out-dueled Pedro IMO. - I was verbally abused quite a bit over the span of two days. - Still think it was more fun to hear Mets fans boo Benitez than Leiter/Delgado. - Some fan jumped out of bleachers on Saturday's game, danced around in center field and then jumped the outfield fence and dissapeared.

April 18, 200519 yr Haha! That must be quite interesting. You wake up in the morning to find a giraffe staring right at you from the window. I only went there to eat at Boma's once.

This was my first game at Shea, and I have to admit that Mets fans are obnoxious. They boo at everything that doesn't go right for their team and basically at any player on the other team. And I've never heard so many obsceneties thrown at opposing players like I did on Saturday. And Mets fans wonder why players don't want to sign with the Mets. (I've been to Yankee Stadium a few times, and they're a lot better than Mets fans, IMO.)

I've been to Marlins games where there were 45-55K fans and I've never seen them act the same way as Mets fans. We don't have as many fans as the Mets because we're such a new organization. But, imagine this, you've been around for over 40 years and we've been around 12 years and we have the same number of championships. All the fans that show up at your games give you money, yet you don't know how to spend it. Pathetic.
April 18, 200519 yr No you can't. I've been to Marlins games where there were 45-55K fans and I've never seen them act the same way as Mets fans. It's called being passionate, something I wouldn't expect from Marlins fans. Is it annoying some times? Sure. But, it's better than sitting there idley at the games. We don't have as many fans as the Mets because we're such a new organization. Yeah, and it has nothing to do witht he fact that Miami is not a baseball town. Most of the baseball fans in Florida are usually transplanted fans of other teams, and rather than change allegiances now-a-days, it's just as easy to but MLB Season Pass and root for your team. But, imagine this, you've been around for over 40 years and we've been around 12 years and we have the same number of championships. And imagine this, we still have a better fan base All the fans that show up at your games give you money, yet you don't know how to spend it. Pathetic. 746457 "You" don't know how to spend it? Sorry, my name is not Fred Wilpon, I don't write the checks. That's something I have no real control over. The Mets have mady plenty of bad decisions with money in the past, but at least we have an ownership comitted enough to winning that they make an effort to re-sign their players.
April 18, 200519 yr No you can't.? I've been to Marlins games where there were 45-55K fans and I've never seen them act the same way as Mets fans.? And when you say, "And imagine this, we still have a better fan base," it doesn't make any sense. Of course you have a better fan base... you've been around four times as long. Obviously, when I said "you" I meant the Mets organizations. When I say "we" I mean the Marlins. Don't take it so personally.

Don't take it so personally. 746465 Yes, and save about 5 seasons, we've been one of the most embarassing teams in baseball. Being around for 40 years doesn't necessarily give you a better fan base, expecially with a history like the Mets have. It would have been terribly easy for the fans to just walk away after Tom Seaver was traded, Doc and Darryl turned from hall of famers to coke heads, and teams like the ones in '92, '93, '01, '02, '03 etc grossely underachieved. The difference is Mets fans just don't leave. Those pigs who were screaming obscenities at the game and acting like jerks are incredibly dedicated fans ... they have to be to put up with this team. As much as the Yankees are popular here, NY is a national league town at heart, and it's not anything new -- it's been that way forever. Hell, the Yankees were merely an afterthought when the Dodgers and Giants were here. And even now, after just one week of winning, the Mets are talk of the town and everyone's waiting for the next Steinbrenner blow-up. The Marlins have been more successful in their existence than any other expansion team, and you would think that being so sucessful so early would give them a strong following, but the difference is that the seeds just aren't there.

" How about you grow up? What should we do? quit rooting for the Fish cause our fan base sucks? be thankful to the fish, that deprived the Yankees to win another WS and saved you some crap talk from your Yankee neighboors.

You're telling me that all the "loyal" Mets fans will renew their season tickets and still have the same attendance figures and that won't effect the future of the franchise at all??? Listen, the onwership we have now is doing their best to rebuild this franchise and has already brought us another championship. But we have been through a lot and you cannot expect the fans to be so loyal with all that has happened. Overtime the fan base will grow if the ownership contiunes to show it is commited to winning.
