Going to school and having a job while paying for rent, school, expenses etc can suck at times..

Anyway, of the college students here, what do you do to save money?

*The thing that I live by when going out to the bars is take the amount of money you're going to spend that night plus your ID and that's it... once its gone, your done. Leave the wallet at home, or that ATM card is going to get worn out by the time the night is over. Also, don't start tabs on your credit cards at a bar.. i dont know how many times ive got carried away doing that

*Grocery shopping is the way to go.. i dont know how often ive lived off fast food but that s*** gets expensive.. i now live off of deli meat. that is so the way to go.

I'd love to hear how some of you all save money.

Fast food is only expensive at some places. I could live off $8 a day eating just fast food.

McDonalds/Wendys: You get 3 double cheeseburgers for $3

Checkers: They got spicy chicken sandwhich deals like 1 for a buck

Buying a box of pasta cost all of 40 cents, stretch that out for a couple meals a week.

You find the parties they have kegs at so you get drunk for free! And the facebook has made this chore all the easier.

On Saturdays, and in-season, you find tailgaters and eat their food.

Cici's pizza is a god-send. $5.99 for all you can eat and drink as long as you stay, all day.

To save on gas, UF has a service that drives you around places, also buses are all over.

The selling of plasma and sperm, figuring you have good stuff can give, can net you a couple hundred bucks a month. :plain

Buying in bulk and freezing extra stuff is always good too.

And try to find work-study instead of a real job. Tax free up to a point.

Keeping a job in food service is a huge advantage, because 9 out of 10 places don't mind if you eat a meal while you're at work. And also, at the end of the night, there is often some "expired" food to take home. As for me, that takes care of probably 1/3 of my meals every week.

I grocery shop, I do not spend money on fast food, ever. I buy packs of crackers, pasta, and rice. They are the most food for the money. Sandwich stuff (a loaf of bread, some ham and cheese) also makes a lot of food for the money.

Kool Aid is cheaper and better for you than a case of Coke.

I pay my bills as soon as I can. Otherwise, if I leave my money in the bank and wait to pay the bills, I feel like I have more money than I do, and thus, justify a purchase.

Stop drinking/doing drugs. Amazing how much money that alone can save you

you could live off $8 a week if you just ate ramen.

that s*** is dirt cheap.

Dude you pretty much said it all. Your doing it the right way, Grocery shopping will help save up cash instead of eating fast food cause you will go broke that way. Tuna, Noddles, mac and cheese will help you survive. Also it's always good to have a buddy work at a fast food or pizza place so you can get hooked up. When i was in G'ville one of my boy's worked at Hungry Howie's and he use to take all the left over pizza home and that helped out also.

Your blood-pressure would be like 7000 by the end of said week.

I'm so broke right now, when i got to the cafe i bring old soda bottles and fill them up right there, it's so sad I need money cuz i need to take the train to the airport to go home in two weeks so I have to start saving now.

+Little Caesars Hot N Ready Pizza for only $5

+The McDonalds apple pies are two cartons for $1

+If you're at a McDonalds with the refill station then buy a small coke.

+Take a water bottle to a refill station at McDonalds (when there's alot of people) and fill it up with coke.

+Buy generic Publix cereal (or sauce, etc.) because it's cheaper than brand name and tastes the same.

+Try to walk or bike to places.

That's all the legal stuff... :mischief

Totinos Pizza.

Peanut Butter sandwiches.

Spaghetti.

Eat other peoples food.

Let other people buy the beer.

does fountain soda stay good though? i never thought of that one.

back in the day we would steal milk, juice, cereal, fruit, silverware, and cups from the cafeteria.

get yourself a honey and eat at her place

Instead of buying brand names. Buy generic brands, find the cheapest price. If you eat Ramen, don't eat it too often. It's not good for you. Like CFDodgeMarlin40, Kool-Aid is good, so is water. Do not spend money if it's unnecessary.

Its all about budgeting. You can go without wasting money on things you dont really need. Dont buy expensive stuff. Put alot of money away, youd be surprised on how much you can save. In a year, if you save at least 2.50, youd have alot of money.

It's not a good but it's still alright. We steal everything from the Caf our plates, silverware, fruit, cereal, and bread, We even took the napkin dispenser and when we run out we bring it back and get a new one.

I used to steal toilet paper from my school

My freshman year of college, I ran out of my meal plan dollars. My parents werent going to bail me out. With three weeks left, my work study job ended. With the scant amount of funds I had left, I lived off of ramen and 1 dollar burritos for 3 weeks. My intestines have still not recovered.

Ive worked at a sorority house at UF for 2 years now and have probably saved thousands of dollars on meals not inculding the non-monetary perks. Get a sorority job if they have a Greek system at your school.
