Athletics signed shortstop Bobby Crosby to a five-year, $12.75 million contract.

The A's said they wanted to do this after getting Rich Harden signed. This takes Crosby right up to his first year of free agency. He gets a $250,000 signing bonus, $500,000 this year, $750,000 next year, $2.5 million in 2007, $3.5 million in 2008 and $5.25 million in 2009. It seems like a fair deal for both sides. If Crosby develops like the A's think he will, the team will probably save itself $3 million or so over the final two years of the deal. Apr. 22 - 9:57 pm et

It's about time ownership started forking over money to sign good players long term.

Chavez, Harden and now Crosby.

He could've gotten more money....
