Marlins97+03WC
Can someone please tell me if our chances of getting a stadium are increasing or decreasing. I'll be honest in telling you that I dont know much about politics so just give me a simple explanation please. Thanks in advance.
prinmemito
We need six more votes to get supermajority and bypass all the committees to get it to the floor of the Senate. If we get those six votes, the stadium passes. Right now we have 21. This is going down to the wire.
Marlins97+03WC
Is there a good chance that we will get those votes. Is this in the near future?
Boog Sciambi
Is there a good chance that we will get those votes. Is this in the near future? 764483[/snapback]Â not sure if theres a good chance or not i'd say its a tossup but if you consider tomorrow the near future then yes. its do or die, and we will know in 24 hours whether we've done or died
Marlins2003
Lee: Stadium project dead for this year The Associated Press TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Miami's bid for a $60 million state subsidy to help build a new baseball stadium for the Florida Marlins is dead, Senate President Tom Lee said Thursday. The House voted 90-26 Wednesday for a proposal to commit tax dollars to help the team build a proposed $420 million retractable-roof stadium in Miami, which has also had the backing of Gov. Jeb Bush. "It will not pass," Lee said. Lee, however, did not say whether the bill would be debated on the floor on Friday, the final day of the session. "This has been a game of hot potato," Lee said. "Members of the Miami delegation trying to point fingers at other people because they did their job and then it died in the other chamber. I'm just not into all of that." However, one Miami lawmaker said he hasn't given up. "I'm going to continue to have hope, it's not the last day yet," said Sen. Rudy Garcia, a Miami Republican pushing for state help on the ballpark. "I've seen stranger things happen on the last day," he said. Marlins vice president P.J. Loyello did not return a message left on his cell phone.

CapeFish
It isn't over until the close of session tomorrow. Don't let this faze you. The pressure is mounting and Mr. Lee is blocked from getting out of the kitchen.
FishFan24
There is no effing way that this stadium deal doesn't get done one way or another. State money or no state money, the Marlins WILL have a new stadium!!          Am I lying or holding out much hope? :confused

CapeFish
This is the 500th time this AP writer has gotten Lee into saying it is dead. This bill must have more lives than a pound full of cats...hopefully it can spare at least one more life.
FreshFish
Marlins2003, Â the title of this thread is a bit shocking coming from you. You given up hope? Â You think is over on the Senate?
MaRLiNs_FaN_4EvA
that sucks that really really sucks. I cant believe the marlins might not have a home in south florida in a couple of years life just wont be the same.
CapeFish
I think the title is misleading. Lee saying it doesn't mean it isn't true. He is 1 out of 40 and he does not sit on the Ways and Means.
miguelcabrera2420
maybe KEY WEST WILL BUILD US A STADIUM that would be nice.  That is what the Dallas Cowboys did moved to Arlington mayor over here said that he would get them a stadium. Think outside the box. FT Lauderdale doesnt have to Miami just close. Right

What are you hoping will show up for fans? Chickens and Communists who crossed the Straits for a game while on a Castro Lunch Break?

CapeFish
The Ways and Means is not considering the house bill. They are considering SB 1306 which is the Marlins Ballpark only.
