The Dominican team would be nuts...and Manny would probably elect to play for them instead of the U.S...This could be awesome.

This could be amazing

I have my doubts that everyone would want to play though. Especially pitchers, but ya never know

I would also make some changes to U.S team.

SS Rodriguez

3B Rolen

Jeter on the bench...

100% sure Manny wouldn't play for the U.S.

He's only a citizen...

And I am damn sure his U.S citizenship means somewhat more to him then being a dominican by birthright.

Not saying he would, but to be 100% sure is ludicrous.

Um, I dont think Pedro is a Citizen...

Plus the rest of Manny's family are citizens of the U.S as are his children and wife.

So, in between learning how to type and using correct grammar, read this quote...

Manny Ramirez led his Red Sox teammates out of the dugout Tuesday, waving a small American flag on his first full day of US citizenship.

With the flag rippling in the wind, he ran to left field as fans cheered, then went to the seats along the foul line and handed it to a fan.

"I'm very proud to be an American citizen," he said with a big smile before Boston's game against Cleveland.

So is it out of the question for him to play for the U.S? Nope.

Trust me,

You have no idea how much pride Dominicans have for their country. He is happy to finally be a citizen of the U.S but his heart is still in Dominican Republic. He wouldn't hesistate to play for Domincan Republic over the U.S.

I'm Colombian you idiot. My avatar is to show support for the upcoming Sub-20 World Cup because I couldn?t find an avatar of a Colombian flag that fit size requirements. I have many Dominican friends since I live in an area that is diversify when it come to people nationalities so I might know something about how much pride they have.

I just realize that board automatically re-sizes the picture for you. There I finally have the Colombian flag avatar.

What do people think about moving Jeter to bench and switching A-Rod to SS, which allows Rolen to start at 3b?

many people consider it an honor to play for the US .. it happens in many sports after they get their citizenship here ..... look at the olympics

i don't think anyone can say it's a sure thing either way

a prideful person can have pride for both

Then dont let me ever see you criticize a black or white poster on this board...because if you are not of that race..you dont know what its like to be that person. :thumbdown

I agreed with Phx for his observation of atheletes in the Olympics, nothing else or more.

Tell me why Manny wanted to become a U.S citizen so bad then?

And you obviously dont know a s*** about spelling?

You show your foolishness in every post.

You do realize the Pan American games were established as a game between countries in the Americas only...so no s*** that a Dominican would represent his original country in those games.

and he did the same in the olympics...

also with things like that (olympics) you have to be very careful about where they performed in past events

a shining example is that Evegni Nabakov with the Russian hockey team ... when he was 18 he played in the 'C' level tournament in a world championship tournament for Kazakhstan

which meant that he had to play for Kazakhstan at the olympic level

olympic stuff can be very tricky ... Olajuwon had to jump through many hoops to make it on the 1996 Dream Team

also Sanchez is a good runner now ... but let's not forget where he originally tried to make his mark

it seems like a man with that much pride would want to run at the top of best track & field team in the world

"Sanchez does not regret his decision to compete for the Dominican Republic, which came after he finished sixth at the 1999 U.S. championships." - pulled from an article about Sanchez's success

Vlad in CF?

can he even play CF?

they might be better off with Encarnacion out there
