Posted May 16, 200519 yr Brazelton on restricted list for not showing at Triple-ASportsTicker ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- After failing to report to a minor league assignment within the allotted 72 hours, Tampa Bay Devil Rays right-hander Dewon Brazelton on Monday was placed on Major League Baseball's restricted list. Brazelton was optioned to Triple-A Durham of the International League following his 5-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox last Wednesday. However, he has yet to report or even establish any contact with the team, according to the St. Petersburg Times. As long as Brazelton is on the restricted list, the Devil Rays will not have to pay him. In the final year of his initial contract, Brazelton is scheduled to make $1.13 million in 2005. The 24-year-old Brazelton, who was the third overall pick in the 2001 draft, allowed five runs, four hits and six walks in 4 2/3 innings against the White Sox to lose his fourth straight start and fall to 1-7 with a 6.43 ERA in eight starts this season. In 42 career appearances, Brazelton is 8-22 with a 5.54 ERA. He is 0-14 in 18 career road starts, including three this year. Pretty serious pouting? Giving up his salary? The kid needs to listen to the wake up call and take this chance to get his act together.
May 17, 200519 yr He has probelems. He struggles with for control and walks a lot of batters. And you can see that he's not confident through his body language...And surprisingly, he even talks bad about his pitching after games. I wonder how long he's going to remain on the Restricted List. Sending him down to triple a was a very good move by the Devil Rays, he needs somewhere to pitch with less pressure. Now that he's on the Restricted List he won't be counted on the Devil Ray's roster, and while he's on the Restricted List he won't get paid.

While in the minors there's far less comepetition and there's pressure to a much less degree.
May 17, 200519 yr Its a shame, this guy has skills, Marlins fans should know that. 774789[/snapback] I remember that gem he pitched against us last summer. Maybe he's having a 2004 Angel Berroa type season this year.
