Posted May 18, 200520 yr Who would you rather choose now? Pudge also has a huge contract. LoDuca has proven that he can handle our pitching staff as good if not better than Pudge so far (Willis, AJ, Beckett).
May 18, 200520 yr It is March 17th. Â Not to mention Pudge has all the intangibles that Lo Duca does not have and until Lo Duca leads us to the World Series, my vote goes to Pudge regardless of his contract.
May 18, 200520 yr Pudge will probably finish the year with better numbers. But as of right now, because of Lo Duca performance lately and because of Pudge's performance lately, as of right now I'd go with Lo Duca. But when Pudge gets hott, I'd take him. In general, Pudge is better. It's the beginning of the season, those numbers don't mean so much.
May 18, 200520 yr lol, where'd you get that $3.5 million number from. Did you forget Lo Duca signed a 3 year $18 million contract over the offseason?

May 18, 200520 yr It's funny how it goes. By the end of June last year Pudge was hitting for some ridiculous BA just under .400. Now this year he is starting out slow. Pudge is gone. History. He went for the $$$. LoDuca has my support now. :thumbup
May 18, 200520 yr The only thing that could convince me the trade was a good idea was a 2004 playoff berth or good 2004 second-half performances from the acquired players. The only thing that could convince me LoDuca is worth his contract is if he reverts back to 2001 form. Pudge who?

Pudge mainly in the playoffs.
May 18, 200520 yr Lo Duca great leader and great person off the field. Not once has it been about him. Always about the team.
May 18, 200520 yr Pudge is in a slump...good timing on the thread. 776488 How's he looking after he got pulled early the other night? I bought mlb.tv to watch them Tigers, and Pudge & Young go out with injurys and listed Day-to-day .. atleast they were both playing today. Loved that game tonight.
May 18, 200520 yr I love Lo Duca, but Pudge brings more to the table, not only are their stats the same, except for average, which in one full season can transform to pudge being more reliable with the stick since Lo Duca is proven to always down fall in the second half, but Pudge or shall I say fudge has wood and he can play stellar defense!!! Pudge, Castillo, Lowell, and AGON in one same infield is too much to reject, it's unberable, but don't get me wrong I love Paul and always liked his style, especially now that he bleeds teal, but you have to be realistic, I made my choice, and pudge doesn't even have to bat like he did in 2003, I'd still go with him!
May 18, 200520 yr Pudge does not have the players Lo Duca has. If he they switched, those numbers would not be anywhere near where they are now.
May 18, 200520 yr definitely pudge, because of how damn clutch he was in the post-season. hopefully someone like delgado can be our "clutch go-to guy" this year in the post-season.
May 18, 200520 yr Pudge>Lo Duca yes Lo Duca is having the better year right now but if i had to make a choice i'd go with pudge. the guy is one of the all-time great catchers, hits for ave. and power and his defense is gold glove quality.
May 18, 200520 yr I can see it ten years from now.... "dood, who would you rather have now, (marlins catcher, whoever that is) or Pudge?"

Loved that game tonight. 776500Â Pudge just has been off lately, it seems that he has lost his discipline at the plate and has been swinging at a lot of bad pitches. He got the game tying RBI in the ninth last night though, good stuff.
May 18, 200520 yr LoDuca for sure. Timing was right for Pudge to leave. Have a nice day, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Be interested to see if Pudge can stay off the DL again this year.
