MarlinsFan253
Does anyone have more information about betcris.com and their proposal to pay for the remaining gap of funds for the new stadium as long as they get naming rights? I read a little bit about out it on CapeFish's website but I want to know more about it. I REALLY hope this is true and I hope a deal can be reached. I'd hate to lose the Marlins... Of course, that may seem a little funny considering I don't even live in Florida. The Marlins became my favorite team while I lived in Texas and it was before they started playing. My Dad got me a Marlins hat as a gift and I thought new baseball teams were really cool. (I was 10 at the time). Ever since then, they have been my favorite team. I even root for them over my hometown teams. I love them a lot and the thought of them moving to Vegas makes me sick. I watch every game on the internet because ESPN is too stupid to televise more games. Luckily, I can catch them on TBS when they play my least favorite team in the league. I can't stand the Braves. Anyway, I am new to this site so that is why I decided to give a little background about myself. I have never met any other Marlins fans other than myself. What is really sad is the fact that I have never even been to a game, but that is about to change because I bought a ticket to see the Marlins play the Cubs on June 13th. I am REALLY REALLY REALLY looking forward to it.
MarlinsFan253
Also, to those of you that do live in Florida... Go to more games!!! I would have season tickets if I lived there! I am hoping to move there after I graduate college unless of course the Marlins move. :confused

MarlinsFan253
I guess this topic belonged in the "New Stadium" forum. I didn't notice that it was there or else I would have placed it in there.

It seems that its kinda low at the moment... :shifty Btw, welcome aboard.

MarlinsFan253
I was in Texas when my fascination was born. Now I am in Michigan. I think people think I am crazy up here because I have so many Marlins shirts, hats, and jerseys. I look out of place. Some of my friends have learned to accept it and they will ask me how the Marlins are doing every so often. It's fun.

Up around Boston they've got a pretty big following cause they beat the Yankees--I've been on the T and seen a couple people walking around with Cabs shirts on. MarlinsFan253
The 2003 playoffs were probably the most fun for me. I watched every game and loved how it all played out. The series against the Cubs was very exciting and I couldn't have picked a better game 6 for the world series. It's not very often that the Yankees lose a World Series by being shut out in Yankee Stadium. I bought the book "Miracle Over Miami" and I also bought Jack McKeon's book "I'm Just Getting Started". It is cool to know that there are some Marlins fans in Boston. I don't think anyone really picked the Marlins to win that series against the Yankees. I was so glad to see them shock the world the way they did. I knew they were good enough, but not many sports professionals did. At the end of game 7 in the 1997 World Series, my brother jumped on me and I fell and hurt my back. I was too excited to care. I woke up my parents to let them know. I am the only Marlins fan in my family though and I think my family gets tired of me talking about them ALL the time. The Marlins really are all I talk about. Dodge
Wow, it's great to read about other Marlins fans that are located in odd places. I am here in the middle of Braves, Orioles, and now Nationals territory. There are no Florida Marlins fans here. I have a few shirts and a jersey, and stuff on my car, so I definitely feel unique up here - and PROUD! :thumbup
