Miami 305
how will mikey finish out the year
strandedx02
I voted above .250 (as has everyone else to this point) but it wouldn't surprise me terribly if he had an off-season, because they do happen sometimes. Look at Niner's '97 season for example. He was struggling enough that the Marlins went out and got Daulton down the stretch.
jackarmstrong
Lowell's batting just under .200 with the season a little less than 1/3 over. if my math is correct, that means he has to bat about .275 over the remaining 2/3 of the season to finish with a .250 average. And he has bat .276 or higher every year since 2001. So, barring injury, I think he should do it.
Iowa
5-17 (.294) with 4 doubles and 4 RBI on the week.. Hopefully he keeps it up and I think he will.
Dan Marino Forever 13
Mike Lowell's career average is .274 with 137 homers and 536 RBI's.
Accord
I think he'll be hitting around .275-.280 when the season ends.
PBMarlin
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him under .250 at seaons end. He looks like he is finally coming out of his slump. This could last for a bit, butI expect him to fall back into another protracted slump before the season ends.
MarlinsFan253
I think he is coming out of the slump now. Lately, he has had a nice streak of doubles. On a side note, I wonder what the future of Joe Dillon will be like. It was cool that he was used as a pinch hitter again in game 3 against the D-Rays. But he went golfing and stuck out. Oh well. Hollyberry
He will hit over .250.. I am leaning toward .275 :thumbup
Dodge
He'll have .255 going into the postseason. :cool
Guest Fritz
He'll be hitting over .250, but what truly concerns me is his awful .240 OBP. That needs to be at least around .330 before soon.
TSwift25
He better hit above .250.
Marlins
Is this a joke? Of course he'll be hitting over .250 by the end of the season! He's hit over .250 in every single year of his 7 year career! Just because he started off the season bad doesn't mean he'll be bad the whole season and stay under .250 He's been hott as of late and is out of his slump. I'm starting to see that great swing of his down the left field line. He has 13 doubles already, only behind Delgado on the staff.
MikeyFan
Above .
GrizzledVeteran
You guys have a great community here. Nice looking board. Has there been any speculation that Lowell was on the juice and his stats so far this year are a reflection of being unjuiced? I'm not from South Florida, so I'm just curious what the feeling is down there. He has suffered a pretty remarkable dropoff in production. But, considering all Lowell has been through medically, many give him the benefit of the doubt that he'd know about the dangers of steroids and would stay away... Mabdul Doobakus
I highly doubt the roiding thing. For one, Mikey never looked like he was roiding, and he doesn't look any different now than he did last year. Also, he never seemed the roiding type. There's his medical history, but also if you're familiar at all with his personality, it just doesn't feel right that he'd be on steroids. And his performance this season isn't really consistent with the roid theory. He's just swinging at bad pitches. People always said roids don't help you hit the ball, they just help you hit it further. Well, he's got 13 doubles, so he's hitting it plenty hard when he hits it. He just isn't hitting the ball enough...he's swinging at everything outside for some reason. There are signs that's over now, so lets just hope.. Guest Juanky
Mike Lowell's career average is .274 with 137 homers and 536 RBI's. What's his shoe size? And Mikey didn't roid. Steroids don't hit the ball for you, they just make it go farther. He was never a prolific homerun hitter, he's a line drive doubles hitter who drives in runs and sends inside fastballs into the seats. If you can't send an inside fastball into the seats and you bat below second in a lineup you really shouldn't be in the Major Leagues. He's just hitting like complete and total ass, it's an incredible slump but it's a part of baseball.
