June 3, 200519 yr Author Oops, I even missed another quote of his further down... The moral of that story is pitchers suddenly aren't as afraid of contact. Leiter said pitchers see they now "have areas to throw to, and the ball is staying in the park. And in many instances, it is now taking three consecutive hits to score a run." Apparently the "areas" Leiter is throwing to are all out of the strike zone. :mischief
