ALBUQUERQUE -- Gunfire erupted in a downtown neighborhood as a shooter targeted a group of men over seven city blocks on Sunday night. Police continue to investigate the shooting that sent three people to the hospital. It happened shortly after 11 last night. Police say someone followed three men along 14th Street from Central Avenue to Iron, shooting at them the entire way. When police arrived at the scene on Iron they found two men with gun shot wounds, and another with superficial cuts to his hands. The men had wrecked the car they were in an attempt to get a way from the shooter. A few blocks away, police pulled over a vehicle on the 1600 block Central Avenue with two people inside. Police say ammunition was found in the car.? ? Police also recovered several shell casings along 14th street. Police say the three men who suffered injuries were taken to UNM hospital and will recover. Officers say they believe the shooting was gang-related. Meanwhile, the two people inside the car found on Central Avenue were taken-in for questioning.
