I normally wouldn't post something of such questionable nature, however, I think something such as this could open up interesting discussion. I hate PETA as much as the next guy, but I strongly have to agree with them on this.

Wet Seal Butchers Bunnies

PETA has contacted Wet Seal officials repeatedly and sent them video footage to show them why consumers are infuriated by the sale of rabbit fur in the chain?s stores. Unfortunately, Wet Seal has refused to follow the example of top fashion retailers including Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Forever 21, Gadzooks, and others that have adopted fur-free policies. Wet Seal stands idly by while rabbits suffer through horrible lives and torturous deaths. When you view this video, you?ll understand why shoppers are boycotting Wet Seal until the company agrees to stop selling fur for good.

Hundreds of millions of rabbits are slaughtered each year for their fur and their flesh. Rabbits on fur farms spend their entire lives confined to tiny metal cages with no shelter from weather extremes and no chance to dig, jump, or play. To kill the rabbits, fur farmers break the animals? necks or smash their skulls before stringing them up by their legs to cut off their heads.

Hundreds of demonstrations against Wet Seal have been held from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., from Hawaii to Puerto Rico. Celebrities such as Andy Dick, The Used, Mike Ski of The A.K.A.s, and members of Goldfinger have pitched in. Everyone who has helped with the campaign so far has done a fantastic job! Here are some of our favorite photos.

We must keep the pressure on Wet Seal! PETA2 wants you to distribute our Wet Seal leaflets outside malls and Wet Seal stores. We?ll hook you up with a whopping 3,000 Street Team points if you organize a demonstration. E-mail PETA2@peta.org ahead of time, and we?ll help you get everything you need for a successful demo ?we?ll send you extra Wet Seal leaflets and some demo posters, contact local activists to let them know about the demonstration, and even help you get media attention.

We?ve come up with lots of other ways for you to help the animals who are suffering on fur farms for Wet Seal, even if there isn?t a store in your area. Now you?ve got no excuse not to get active!

Please contact Wet Seal, explaining that you?ll be boycotting the chain?and telling all of your friends and family to do the same?until it puts its pledge to stop supporting cruelty to animals in writing:

OK, here is the link to the video. I must warn you, it is extremely graphic and is quite easily either the first or second most horrible thing I have ever seen. If you are upset easily or have a weak stomach, DO NOT WATCH THIS! The link contains the article I just posted as well as the video embedded into the page. Mods, if this is too much, just delete the link.

Here we go.

WARNING: EXTREMELY GRAPHIC

I find the actions of this clothing company utterly deplorable and it sickens me that people such as this exist.

Lot's of people hate PETA, hell it's gotten to the point where it's become the cool thing to bash them and people just immediately write off anything PETA says or does as extremism with twisted information. "oh, slaughter houses aren't that bad."

It's really too bad people can't look past that and realize there are many legitimate causes and blatant and albeit legal cases of egregious animal cruelty happening, but people are too caught up in bashing PETA to realize it.

Uch. Just uch. Makes you sick these type of people exist who have no care in the world for animals. These type of people need to be given the same treatment they give these animals.

Yeah, as I said, this was either the first or second most horrible thing I have ever seen. It's absolutely sick and deplorable what some people will do.

If you want to support a group that defends animals against cruelty and such, you're better off supporting the ASPCA, not PETA which are extremists that value animals over people.

It's difficult to draw lines isn't it?

We don't feel any great remorse for chickens, who are kept in tiny rooms & slaughtered in probably no great humane way either...

But rabbits, (who aren't in the "rodent" genus but aren't too far from it either) elicit a sympathetic response from us because they're cute & cuddly.

Or is it just a matter of "it's okay to do it to animals that we're planning on eating"?

Personally I saw a friend's rabbit eating its young one day & that pretty much ruined the cuddly image of rabbits for me.

So I don't agree with the practice either, but it's funny where we draw our lines & shout "This is too cruel! You've gone over the line!"

I'm not watching the video, I'm sure it's quite disturbing though.

I draw the line at what way is and isn't humane to kill the animals. You say we don't feel remorse for the chicken, yet I have seen videos from the KFC slaughter houses and they are pretty horrible to watch. They were stomping on the chickens, punting them, slamming them into walls. Horrible stuff. That's why I don't eat KFC anymore. It's just absolutely appauling what they do them.

I do think that they ought to take matters to get rid of treatments we would consider "inhumane" definitely. Although different people have different ideas about what is "inhumane" treatment. The rabbit story & what you're describing above qualifies, but there's a lot of grey area too...

There are already strict laws preventing inhumane acts towards animals in slaughter houses, all the disgusting these you see in all of these videos that Peta releases are 100% illegal, the root of the problem is that these laws are never enforced.

Hotcorner made a good point. For some reason humans feel it is 'ok' to kill animals for food and need but not for luxury. Its really not an illogical thought process.

When a lion kills its prey, does it worry to make sure that it does not suffer in the process?

Nature is cruel, and humans, as a part of nature, are just as cruel as any other animal.

Not saying that I would torture animals on purpose, but why worry about inhumane treatment of that which is not human?

Anybody that tells me I can't eat lobster because it's boiled alive can go to hell.

I lost respect for PETA after I saw a campaign they made trying to get people to stop sportfishing. PETA folks and their terrorist associates are truly the most ignorant people on the planet.

when they make a huge deal out of every little thing, nobody will pay attention to what they say, even in the rare cases they are right
