Posted July 12, 200519 yr Joe Morgan asked D-Lee the difference between playing in Chicago and playing in Florida and he said the fans. He said Chicago is a baseball town and Miami isn't, and every game at Wrigley has a playoff atmosphere and in Florida they had a hard time getting fans to come out and the fans don't support the team.
July 12, 200519 yr I was never a big fan of D. Lee but nothing he said was off-base or incorrect. That being said he should have said the Cubs fans support their teams each and everyday and left it at that.
July 12, 200519 yr While watching the Home Run Derby tonight, Derrek Lee was asked what the difference was between playing in Miami, and playing in Chicago. Lee responded "In Florida, the fans wouldn't come out to support the team. In Chicago, every game is a sellout, and I always feel like we're playing playoff ball." Didn't make me like him any more.
July 12, 200519 yr Geez you guys make such big deals out of some little crap..Who cares what he says about the fans he's the one that got traded for hee-seop choi :plain not us.
July 12, 200519 yr Not the first time he's burned bridges here *cough* 2002 *cough*. He's a good player overachieving, I can't wait until he comes back to his .280 career average and the "great" Chicago fans turn on him. :thumbdown
July 12, 200519 yr dude, the guy spoke 100% truth. our baseball fans (and even our football fans) are NOTHING compared to chicago fans. PERIOD.
