Passion
What I mean is, where did the word originate? Someone today said "Luck is an Irish word originally used for the act of having sexual intercourse. " Is this true? 855043[/snapback] The word luck was borrowed from Middle Dutch or Low German; it is cognate with forms in several other Germanic languages. It seems to have been first popularized as a gambling term, not surprisingly. The ultimate origin is uncertain. http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.pperl?date=19970624
