Posted August 5, 200321 yr I know most of the real fans know about these trades already but its always fun to bring them up again. Dombrowski had to dismantle a team of vets and who would ever think 5 seasons later it would all come together. These are my top 5 moves that have the biggest impact on this years team Ed Yarnell Todd Noel and Mark Johnson for Yankees prospect Mike Lowell Kevin Brown to SD for D Lee and 2 pitchers ( Medina and Hoff) Matt Mantei to Arizona for Brad Penny Vlad Nunez and Abe Nunez Livan Hernandez to SF for Nate Bump and Jason Grilli my 5th choice is very difficult because the guy we gave up is still the best player included in this trade, Edgar Renteria to Stl. for a rappidly aging Pablo Ozuna along with Armando Almanza and Braden Looper. if i didnt mention a deal that you think is helping this team today post it up.
August 5, 200321 yr Yea he really did make good moves and got good prospects in return. The only one who i am not sure about is Almanza but the rest are very good....

Yes, but Dombrowski had about 4 years to make impactful deals. Beinfest has had 1 1/2 years to make trades that would make an impact. I think Beinfest has made just as many deals to impact this team than Dombrowski did, in much less time. But he does deserve credit, no doubt.
August 5, 200321 yr Author the reaon i didnt put the Preston or AJ trades is because those havent really effected this season other then the pierre trade and AJ's starts early this season
August 5, 200321 yr the reaon i didnt put the Preston or AJ trades is because those havent really effected this season other then the pierre trade and AJ's starts early this season Well I think the Preston trade did have an impact this year, because like you said, Preston lead to Pierre. But it could have been left off just as easily as it could have been put on the list.
August 5, 200321 yr Author Wild Card, oh of course Beinfest has done an incredible job in his short tenure as GM but if this team didnt have the players left over from the past regime it would not be as good of a team
August 5, 200321 yr Wild Card, oh of course Beinfest has done an incredible job in his short tenure as GM but if this team didnt have the players left over from the past regime it would not be as good of a team Yes, but would we be a contender at all if: Kevin Millar was playing LF, Preston Wilson was in CF, Charles Johnson was Catching and Michael Tejera was in the rotation. We are a contender because: Our LFer is Miguel Cabrera, Juan Pierre is in CF, our catcher is Pudge Rodriguez and Mark Redman is in the rotation. I'm not saying that we are soley a contender because of these moves by Beinfest, but they have just a little somethig to do with it.

I don't want to nitpick, but I would put the Renteria trade before the Herandez trade. We got a closer and an important reliever in that deal, and in the Hernandez deal, we got a reliever (albeit a good one) that was called up a month or so ago.
August 5, 200321 yr and some guy name Dontrelle I could have added him, but I didn't due to the fact that he was never expected to be on the team (now) when Beinfest made these moves.
August 5, 200321 yr Beinfest didn't have anything to do with signing Cabrera did he? Wasn't that before he joined the Marlins?
August 5, 200321 yr Author like i already said, Beinfest has done an incredible job. I am just stating that our main players didnt just magically apear trades are hard and developing prospects are even harder.
August 5, 200321 yr Cabrera was signed as a 16 year old for a venezuelan record in 1999, thats when Sportscenter(the poster) became a fan of his
August 5, 200321 yr Beinfest didn't have anything to do with signing Cabrera did he? Wasn't that before he joined the Marlins? That doesn't matter. He was responsible for making him the starting LF in the first place. Although you could say he is not responsible for Cabrera being here in the first place, you could also say that he wouldn't be a starter on the big club if it wasn't for Admin.
August 5, 200321 yr thats when Sportscenter(the poster) became a fan of his wow you dont forget things do you
